The 2016 season of NASFOR Cup kicked off in Northern Philippines last February 13 and 14 in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. Dubbed as the Pamulinawen 4x4 Race, the event saw twenty one racers compete against each other in a challenging course that had everything on it - mud pits, speed segments, steep inclines and a tricky rock/log patch just after the starting line.
The race was dominated by Luzon racers with Noel Bartolome, Jr. of the Land Cruiser Club of the Philippines taking top spot, followed by Edison "Tonton" Dungca of the Kapampangan Racing Team (KRT) with Randy Sobrapena, Dungca's teammate, taking third spot. One interesting item to note was that Cesar "Jodax" Daquil of 4Wheelers Davao, the sole representative of Mindanao topped Track C, finishing in the top ten in the process.
The next three legs will be staged in Mindanao which might see the table standing shift in favor of Mindanao racers who will be counting on hometown support.

The event was supported by the city government of Laoag and was organized by the Pinakbet Off-road Group. The event was presented by 199 Off-road House, Toptul, Racetech Suspensions, and Mobil as major sponsors and Adventure 4X Magazine and autoindustriya.com as the official media partners.
