All-around surveillance and more
Dash cams or car DVRs have become an essential car accessory to have these days, as it serves as our extra set of eyes on the road. Many have since flooded the market and they come in all shapes, sizes, and price points. But which one should you get?
Recently, we were able to get our hands on the latest and the first-ever 360-degree dash cam from 70mai, and it left us with a very good impression. The 70mai Dash Cam Omni 360 boasts a patented industry-first 360-degree full-view design. Equipped with an f/1.5 aperture that's combined with a 340 degrees swivel and 140-degree field of view, it provides crisp footage without any image distortions. This new technology brings in this product as the first real 360-degree no blind-spot full view dash cam.
Unlike simple plug-and-play setups of typical dash cams, the 70mai Dash Cam Omni requires to be "hard-wired" for its installation for a good reason. It needs constant power for the GPS and 4G, as well as the location and surveillance function to work.
As a photographer and being all too familiar with the apertures and low light capabilities of cameras, this product produces outstanding images and video footage. It is capable of 1080p Full-HD videos and taking photos of up to 2K image quality, making this dash cam a very capable companion for your vehicle. It also comes with a 60 FPS rate that is designed for fast motion and in the unfortunate scenario of a car crash. Moreover, it captures crystal clear emergency footage 5 seconds before, during, and 10 seconds after the incident happens.
The f/1.5 aperture is also more than enough especially during nighttime. The integrated Plus-S HDR technology helps provide best-in-class low-light performance may it be day or night. Whether you're entering tunnels or exiting, it automatically corrects exposure levels and can achieve a dynamic range of up to 120 dB as compared to other dash cams that only reach 70-80 dB.
After having used the 70mai Dash Cam Omni for quite some time, I found it to be very useful since the app would automatically alert me if there was a suspicious person around the perimeter of my vehicle. Featuring an AI-Based Human Detection Algorithm, it can prevent false triggers and records one minute of footage of the person outside, while the camera does the job of tracking and following. Honestly, I wish one of my workmates had this earlier, as his car was unfortunately vandalized while it was parked. For peace of mind and safety, it promptly sends a message to your mobile phone via the app and sends a link to the recording of that moment.
It is also equipped with a Collision Detection Algorithm that again immediately sends me a message that my car was hit. These alone are more than enough reasons why this dash cam is more than a notch ahead of its competition.
In terms of its surveillance features, the GPS and 4G system lets you connect to the Omni through Remote Monitoring. Even if my vehicle is parked, I can access the dash cam and the live footage remotely through my phone. I can take photos or record video and I can even freely pan the 360-degree camera to my liking.
This feature is very much useful if you are letting your children drive your car, if you have a family driver that you want to monitor, or for companies who have fleets of cars that you want to check as well. The GPS also pinpoints the exact location of the vehicle that is integrated with Find My Car which syncs to your 70Mai app and provides a map for your convenience whether retrieving or simply just locating your vehicle.
For owners of older vehicles like me, you'll be surprised the Omni has quite a similar feature as that of modern cars with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). The dash cam warns you to avoid traffic safety risks such as lane departure, walking pedestrians, and adding identifications on cyclists to provide an extra layer of safety. Together with the ADAS it also comes with a Route Tracking map that you can access and sync via the 70mai Cloud and 70mai app. This is very useful if you want to check where the vehicle has been and if it indeed has followed a specific route.
To top it all off, one of my favorite features of the 70mai Dash Cam Omni is that it has Smart Voice Control. I can easily free my hands and just voice commands like Shoot left or right or “Shoot Emergency Video” assuring a safe drive. It can also be used to create content by commanding it to “Take a Selfie” or “Shoot Vlog” wherein it takes a 30-second video footage that rotates the camera from left to right and eventually ends up taking a quick video to end for travel memories.
Overall the 70mai Dash Cam Omni is indeed a dash cam and more. At a very affordable price and with features that go beyond safety and convenience indeed this dashcam is a must-have. For more info, visit their Facebook Page at 70mai PH or order directly on their Lazada or Shopee stores.
