To all car enthusiasts out there:

Carefully check each item on your car, from tools to lighter to wheel caps to tire valve covers to emblems before leaving the shop especially casa.  Once you're out, you're on your own.  I learned this the hard way last week.

I went in for a 1,000 kms. check up.  They did the usual check list sa reception and everything was in order.  The car was ready after two hours or so.  Not bad.  I paid the bill, quickly inspected the car - even checked the tools but not the wheels, tsk tsk. For some reason I did not bother to have a quick walk around the car.  Submitted my gate pass to the guard and drove away.

After I parked at my first destination direct from the dealership and as I was proudly looking at my baby from the right side... nice, malinis, walang gasgas at walang ring center cap yung rear right wheel! A closer look revealed that the cap was pryed from the wheel on two points.  And since my previous stop was at the casa, then it must have been taken or accidentally removed there. Hmm.

I drove back to the dealer and informed them of what happened and hoped that an honest mechanic would give it back.  Nothing.  The service advisor claimed that I should have checked the car carefully.  Wala akong laban talaga, I admit.

I know it's a small item but the car looks incomplete without it.  I was informed by the advisor that a new set will cost around P1,800 - 2,000 but the item is not in stock.  Hindi ko na muna siguro papalitan.  Maliit na bagay pero ang mahal!

So ingat kayo pag nagpapaservice ;)

jacques,

what is the make and model of your car that you had serviced in casa? where is this casa located?

eric

I was told that such things do happen in CASAs.
Kaya I take the extra pains and precautions before leaving my car sa CASA.  I remove everything that I can - Lighter, ash tray, stereo head unit, tool kit, EWD (heheh), lahat!

Better to be safe than sorry.  Mahirap kasing mag spot check kung sinundo mo yung kotse mo from the CASA eh.  Siyempre excited ka at gusto mo nang umalis.

Di na sila nahiya!! >:(  They carry the name of their company pa naman!

only in the philippines. everytime i bring my car to the casa, its such a hassle to remove everything in your car before leaving it for service.  now at toyota cubao they take digital pictures of your car so they have a record when your car was brought in, just in case you have any problems.  in the US, i could leave everything in my car and nothing would be missing. some dealers in the states, you can drop off your car in the morning and just leave your keys in a drop box.  i wish the people here could be more honest.

nic

yeah make sure you remove everything, maski small stuff.
I lost a swiss knife sa casa, and wala din nangyari when i complained coz di naman ma-pinpoint kung sino kumuha

In some cases, instead of taking stuff, they 'swap' them for older or damaged ones.

Had also a bad experience in Honda Alabang.  I had the car serviced and engine washed. I didnt bother anymore to check the engine bay since kampante ako na casa naman ang gumawa.
After driving for a while i heard a rattling noise inside the engine bay and eventually found out na yung bracket ng air filter tube ko naputol na and what's worse is that yung air filter mismo (parang mesh type lang sya) was crumpled. parang pinipi.
As usual, walang umamin na mekaniko...but good thing though mabait yung isang service adviser na kausap ko and he said he'll raise it to his boss and replace the damaged part.
tsk tsk tsk....bad rep na tuloy sila sa kin pero nonetheless I still respect them.  Although for me Honda Makati still has the best and friendly service.
charge it to experience nalang.

DTNS,
The car is a 2003 Accord and the dealer is Honda Cars Shaw.

beware of Honda Quezon ave also they have a bad reputation and service in the parts department. Buying parts that they give wrong and wouldnt want to exchange it or refund your cash the next day. They dont consider your own time wasted when they give you the wrong parts. plus they will ask you to buy something more expensive and you will need to add the difference. now thats one bad service. Whoever own honda quezon should look into there practice of business. Will never go back to these establishment would rather go other honda dealers for better service
