try replacing your sending unit or checking for leaks. di ganun ka-visible yan lalo na kapag sa mga hoses. a small crack will leak slowly and not show many signs of overheating.

it's starting to smell like a water pump problem...the temp gauge/radiator does not show signs of heat...but the engine wants to catch fire and heats up so much...it may be that the water pump is  broken and the water from the radiator doesn't circulate through you engines 'cooling jackets' (am not sure of the term).

cool radiator with a burning engine=water pump...that happened to my neighbor in his civic.

i think you wanna have it thoroughly checked... ;)

try mo kay tireboy or speedyfix. if ever its your water pump, its not that expensive naman....GMB is a good brand.

speedyfix

yup, gmb is ok. we use it for most of the cars. price range depends on what car pero mura lang naman:)
