My friend just got caught a while ago...Hindi registered yung car niya. Tapos naka japanese plate pa siya.

Here's my question:

Bawal ba magkabit ng japanese plate SA LIKOD? Pero, may PHILIPPINE PLATE NA REGISTERED SA HARAP.

Any plate not recognized by the government whether placed in the front or back in place of the suppossed plates is illegal.

Yes using JDM plates is illegal regardless...

ok. Thanks! Dati kase I use my car every day...walang huli jap plates ko.kahit nakatitig yung mga mmda / tmg sa plat ko...

But,still, just coz i'm not being reprimanded doesn't mean it's legal.

Too bad. My friend had to learn it the hard way.

It is not illegal per se to display decorative license plates on your vehicle (mine used to read: "4x4MAG OFF-ROAD EXPRESS").  But to use it as a substitute for the standard Philippine license plate is highly illegal.  Even if you have a decorative license plate, your standard license plate must still be displayed in its intended (and illuminated at the rear) location.

There are approved vanity/commemorative plates if you really want something different.
