how can i remove rust (small about half an inch or less) from my plate garnish?-tia

theveed

sand the area down until you dont see the rust spot anymore.

clean it off with a dry, tack cloth, then brush off excess rust powder with a toothbrush.

apply rust inhibitor like Turko/Turbo and other rust stopping agents (can be bought in most tool shops for under 100 bucks

wait for it to fully dry (it usually turns black or grey)

paint over it if desired.

Thanks for the info. Any advice on what grit of sand paper to use?

Silverado

I usually start with the least abrasive sandpaper that I have and work my way up (or down if were talking about the grit  ;D).

yup, i agree  ;D  but any grit will suffice. however, it just takes a little longer to remove the rust if you use higher grit. i normally start with 600 or 400 grit then work my way down for more cutting power
