your questions are very general and the 2 cars are very different.   one is FR and the other FF.  what do you mean "performance"?  economy, acceleration, drag, top speed, circuit, slalom, handling or scoring with girls?   ;D

you also didn't specify which model/year.

anyway, given your vague question, for you? get the eclipse.  it's FWD, so generally, easier to maintain, repair and is more economical.  also more parts available relative to the Nissan

pero I like the 200SX.  kinda heavy but nice to swap in a JDM SR20DET/5speed tranny and set it up for drifting   ;D

anyways... 200sx is the way to go for me... although both are very aftermarket friendly...

pm Conan he drives a well-modded 200sx. he can help you with your inquiries.

i cant answer the Q on which is 'better"

but if i'm gonna purchase one, definitely its the SX!!!

Protege Mania

If it's my money, Id definitely get the SX. The eclipse isn't bad, its just that I have a bias for FR cars.

Plus you can swap in a Blitz or HKS SR20DET if you have the $$$$.

i'd go woth the 200sx too! :) in terms of looks and performance sx is the way to go IMO :)

I'd go for the SX. Look good, drives good (a bit sluggish sometimes. Probably it's the weight), and you seem to have greater flexibility on what you can do with it:

The green one there has an S15 swap making over 300 WHP

SX for me... love this car since dati pa...

i think the green sx with work meister is pushing around 320whp if i remeber it correctly..  :)

200sx would be a better choice in my opinion in terms of power/looks and handling although you cant compare this to the AWD eclipse.

SR motor are very easy to power and aftermarket parts are plenty except that not much shop carry these unless order basis.

how about servicing it? can you service both cars sa casa? my uncle is planning to get one kasi and both are in a similar price range.

Big M

Both are good cars and both of them have very good aftermarket support here in the PI. Sourcing aftermarket products will be a challenge but not impossible thanks to sites like AI.

Now I think it all boils down to the condition of the prospect cars. Pick the car in the best condition. Ask around where to get your car serviced and which shops provide aftermarket parts since those 2 cars will be very tempting to modify.

Personally, I would pick the 200 SX. I see too many Eclipses around. Go for the SX para iba naman.

I had the same question in 1997, brand new 200SX or Eclipse. I went with the rear wheel drive 200SX for the reason that it's easier to "recover" from a power slide with a rear wheel drive compared to a front wheel drive.

Nissan brought in the 200SX so it has full support from the casa. Depending on the parts you need some may have to be ordered, but oil filters, fuel filters, brake pads and consumables are readily available.

Myself I source all of my OEM parts from this auto supply on Taft Ave., the owner of the store also owns a 200SX so parts come really easy, even better than ordering parts from the casa. For servicing I bring it to trusted places like Speedyfix. Aftermarket parts need to be ordered, but there are a lot to choose from.

Get the 200SX and then join our Silvia Club! You'll get to know lots of valuable information since we exchange lots of info regarding parts, performance, etc... ;D
