I was just wondering, I have seen several white stripes with "little humps" along SLEX, I've seen a lot of those also in Sto. Tomas Batangas in front of the Technopark Entrance, what are these for? To slow down vehicles? I presume it's not a pedestrian crossing along SLEX... ???
No need to speed, the thrill is not worth the risk...

it's to remind you that you're in a moving vehicle. LOL ;D
there are several areas within the metro that have these too. i believe they're called rumble strips.

That's to wake you up  ;)

I think the white stripes are a way better solution to reminding people to slow down than speed bumps.

when you get shaken violently it means you gotta slow down.

it saves gas too. no more need to slow down to 20kph or risk of getting violent

Problem is, as long as it never hinders speed, some people ignore it. Like most traffic rules here, these people regard it as mere suggestions :P

True but it does get me to slow down. I do open up the taps a bit when it is wide & open but when I get a bit jarred.. I lift off.

Is it me or should there be a standardized hump for all local roads? The barangay humps are really small & irritating. Fodder for SUVs who hardly feel it.

From what I know, there is a standard dimension for road humps also :)

there's surely gonna be a big smile in ur face when u see these so called rumble strips with all those tire marks all over, imagine how the rumble strips woke up the unsuspecting sleepy drivers..  ;D

randz

they got these strips on the NLEX also.. they do rattle up the vehicle quite a bit..

never been on the SLEX so i dunno where they are located but on the NLEX they're located about 1 KM before the toll gates.. IMO i think their purpose is to warn motorists that the toll gates are coming up so that they know to slow down.. and in some cases "warn" actually means to wake up sleepy drivers.. :)

Rumble strips are there to keep you on your toes.

If you are conscious, you'll also slow down so you won't prematurely wear your car parts.
Go stable, just right... TO GO FASTER!

If you go thru it slowly mas malakas yung kalabog sa loob ng kotse kesa sa pag above 80kph ang takbo. I tried running it over ng 100kph and di na siya ganung kalakas sa loob ng kotse.

Kakaasar lang ay baka sirain niya pang ilalim ng kotse...

its nice to know it serves its purpose to wake the sleepy drivers up.

but my question is, in the long run what damage do our  cars get from this white stripes???  wheels? tyres? shocks? springs? engine support? computer sensors? etc.  ???

isn't the price of gas and toll ways enough burden for us car owners.  :(

pre im sure the white stripes would not do much damage to your underchassis since it's only barely 2 meters long, also, it will just shake ur car a bit...

dapat mas magworry ka sa road conditions natin sa metro than that watchatink? ;)
