Any shop name where I can have it changed? Brand an model that will match vehicle and give soft ride?

WaZ

sa alam ko wala pang aftermarket d2 na shocks eh
pero that was last summer , don;t know now, pero sa alam ko the rear shocks of gen1 and gen2 are the same
the brands that are available that i know is bilstein and koni, don;t know if oldman shocks have already for the rav  :)

4var

theres bilstein in kartek (concept one) in santolan rd san juan...i think its 27k for a set. if i had enough dough i would get those!!! hehe  ;D

smOke

balak ko bumili next yr ng rav-4 para 04 model na..but il probably get da 4x4 para masaya...maganda ba saka hindi ba sirain?!
V10 - 5000cc - 507 bhp @ 7750 rpm - 520 Nm@ 6100 rpm - 8250 rpm - Front-Engine/RWD - 7-Speed SMG

Boo

i've tried both the 4x4 2.0L and the 4x2 1.8L model, it seems that the 1.8L accelerates better and ride quality is smoother due to the tires used 215/70/16.  another thing is due to the power its power-to-weight ratio.  the 4x2 is lighter by almost 200kgs.

on the otherhand, the 4wd is better in cornering, slopes and light offroad...it all depends on your preference.  the newer models now only comes with auto transmission, manuals were phased out just recently.

lastly, the 4x2 is cheaper by 200k...

again, if you have the money then go out and get a 4x4.

in terms of quality, the best ang toyota worldwide.
fyi, they were all shipped as CBU from japan.

gas consumption is at its best compared to a CRV...

Based on actual usage and experience ok naman sya except mas matagtag sya as compared to X-trail and medyo malakas sa gas, same as x-trail.

The 2004 model is now out.  Check it out at http://www.toyota.com/html/shop/vehicles/rav4/

"The RAV4 gets a mild restyling with a new front bumper, grille, headlights, taillights, and spare-wheel cover. Inside, the instrument panel and the steering wheel are redesigned. A new 161-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine replaces the previous 148-hp, 2.0-liter four-pot. The suspension and the steering are retuned, and the rear brakes go from drums to discs."

I think the RAV4 SV, with its 1.8 1ZZ-FE and lighter body,  has great "project" potential!  ;) ;D

rav4monk3y,

A ok. So napagkasya mo na pala.

Don't do this in the long run for it will be the start of premature wear on your suspension components. And most likely will engine will also overrun para makayanan iyong additional load, which will also lead to premature engine wear.

Although in general matitibay naman ang Toyota, pero don't abuse this siyempre. Kahit Toyota eh bibigay din pag bara-bara ang may-ari :)

DTNS,

Yep, if I had the resources this will make a very great project vehicle.

First, manual tranny na siya, so it will take in a 2ZZ-GE transplant including the 6-spd tranny (if ever meron na dito).

Second, its wheelbase is shorter than the Altis, making it more nimble sa corners, although mas mataas ang RAV. But what the heck is the purpose of racing springs (or coil overs for that matter, sana meron din dito hehehe).

Third, if ever na ayaw ng engine swap, puwedeng-puwede din ang supercharging (c/o TRD) sa luwag ng engine bay.

Turbocharging puwede pero medyo nakakatakot, since baligtad ang engine configuration (intake sa labas, exhaust sa may engine firewall), so if you are to go this route take extra care in insulating affected components, especially the interior (dashboard, etc.).

Hehehehe :)

rAImond,

(28% increase in hp based sa TRD USA website. 166hp from 130hp! [pano pa kaya kung 145hp? ::)])
