Motorsport wheels especially those used in high profile races are made from Magnesium, not titanium.

Its either Forged Magnesium or Forged Aluminum they use there and not Titanium.

i don't mean to bash pero sana rota can also come up with it's own original designs... the trend seems to be in copying the designs from spoon, mugen, work, racing hart, etc etc etc...

pangit din connotation when people ask ano rims mo... then the owner says "ah, fake yan na spoon" then it has rota sa centercap or somewhere else... parang pang "fake" lang yung rota.

i know it means good business since you can give people the look they want for less, pero IMO sayang din...

last original rim i remember from rota was the impact 5 spokes which came out when i was in high school. i remember malupit na malupit na auto mo nun kung naka ganun ka. hehe! ;D

Honestly, lahat ng mga aftermarket wheel manufacturer nag copy lang naman sila ng mga design nila...  the mere  fact, yong mga wheels sa US, europe are made in china lahat yon becuase they go cheaper price..  so i prefer rota even they dont have their own design but the quality is ok.. compare to china????  i dont  think so...  Trust me, I work as a sales rep. in alloy wheel aftermarket wheel designer manufacturer here in taiwan... Masabi ko na the best yong quality ng rota.....  THERE ARE ONLY FEW BRANDS THAT HVE THEIR OWN FACTORY OTHERS ARE JUST DISTRIBUTOR AND GET WHEELS MADE IN CHINA......  NOTE: ALL CHROME WHEELS ARE MADE IN CHINA (as u know that chrome manufacturing is health hazardous) in EUROPE: BBS, ANTERA, ALCOA, HAYES LEMMERZ, FONDMETAL, ATP AT MIM lang ang may factory at chrome plating din.. sa US: mostly OEM wheels manufacturer but few....  maganda ang wheels ng ibang distributor pero made in china naman....

I thought forged - kind of casting process. magnesium , aluminum, steel, and titanic are kind of raw material... when it comes to strength yes forged aluminum is number  however, forged titanic is the most lightest them all...

Based from experience, yes, Ive tried 2 sets of Rays VR TE-37, 2 sets of 5 zigen becketts, Real Racing, etc etc and so far I hadnt had any problems with them.  Although alot of people say they break easily. I guess like what Mr. Mic of Rota said, more material are used to have more durable sets.  Ive also tried a set of Taiwan made rims and yes it broke easily after hitting a big pothole.

Yes I guess a lot of big wheel companies SUBCONTRACT their work to China and also to Rota.  And yes mainly because they have dirt cheap labor in China. The quality might be inferior but it's hard to say coz at the end of the day it's still the Wheel company who does final QC and testing  since it's their name at stake :D

i think migs was just suggesting constructively  ;D hey there's nothing wrong if it's made in china. even migs uses rota on his new sx.

i am not too sure myself. speed star wheels, for their racing line, has the speed star forged technology and i was wondering if it is the same as rays.

rest assured, you won't go wrong with ray's forged line.

Speed Star wheels is forging process is different from RAYS. SSR uses a technology they call SSF or Semi solid forging where the aluminum is softened or you can say melted and is injected via high pressure to a mold. While RAYS is actual alloy billets shaped by a mold dropping on it at extreme force.

how about the cast ones? same lang po ba yung cast ng rays with different brands and rota?  :)

The casted wheels of RAYS is formed via gravity and low pressure casting which Rota uses as well. Of course, many other brands abroad use the same technology also.

thank you for the correction... :)

so then does the difference result in a lighter wheel or a stronger wheel? :) thank you

In terms of strength, the RAYS type (actually BBS started this process) is the best process in my opinion.
