i know der are posts like dis one but please help me..
im gonna be selling my 96 vti to be able to buy a 2nd hand SiR.. question is okay pa ba na eto ang kunin ko or a spanking brand new civic (vti lng) na? der are so many factors kya ako ngguluhan, if i lwill get the SiR, lupet ang porma, ganda ng makina/suspension etc not to mention the respect na u wil gonna get (if u know wat i mean) kya lang mdyo mtanda na compared to new civic.. ung new civic nman d ako msayado nppogian but iba tlaga ang brand new

Depends what you value more. If speed is a very big and important factor for you, then get the siR.

if you have the money, buy the new vti.  its brand new.  you will have less headaches than maintaining a used SIR.  The suspension of the SIR is almost the same as your car now.  it just has been lowered and has a strut bar.  don't worry about the added power of the SIR.  r u going to be racing your car all the time?

i'd get the new vti... madali lang naman magpabilis ng oto, pero mahirap magrestore ng interior/exterior ng used car.

tnx for the replies..  i wont be racing the car all the time, mas lamang pa cguro na ggamitin ko for school, laki rin kc ng difference ng price nila.. naiisip ko instead na brand new, ung matitipid na money will be spent for serious modifications..

get a SiR... madali lang mag restore ng 2nd hand vehicle, ung matitipid mo from getting a brnd new one dun mo na gastusin.... change oil, spark plugs, breaks, clutch, etc...... new mags, tires, suspension and maybe a pair of recaro seats?.... i have a sir since 99.. nung dumating bagong civic vtec3 inoffer saken ng parents ko kapalit ng ibenta SiR... tinangihan ko, i sticked to my old SiR

If you find a well maintained SIR.... kunin mo... its a very good car imo..kasi bukod sa maporma na at mabilis (even at stock)... hindi mabilis ang depreciation...it will hold on to a certain value level longer than most cars in its class...

Get the bnew car (vti)...if you want the new car scent ;D and are willing to pay a premium to minimize potential sakit ng ulo and comparatively rising maintenance costs which generally comes with purchase of 2nd hand cars

Hmmm... I am pressuming that serious modifications means also the option of forced induction? If it is, I heard that the new 2001++ Civics have a lot of potentiak to make healthy amounts of HP in a forced induction setup. You may consider that...

I own an SiR right now and it really is one of the best small sized econo-commuter sedans that I have driven around these Metro Manila streets. And even with just some basic modifications, hearing the engine rev past VTEC point is exhilirating :D

Brand new civic vti dahil hindi mo naman ikakarera.  matipid pa sa gas.. :)

Hmm.. ever thought of just "seriously modifing" your 96vti to look better and faster than the siR?

Kung ako tatanungin i'd stick with a brand new car anytime aywhere.  :)

Know ur true intentions muna, im sure hindi ka naman magtatanung dito if ur not into tuning or racing right?

My advice:  Get an SIR na hindi pormado or tuned, because that serves as a guarantee na hindi laspag yung car and ginamit lang sha for shopping and office during its past life. :)

IMHO it depends on ur preferences and intentions really sa car... iba shempre ang bnew car sa 2nd hand in terms of condition, guarantee and the smell... hehehe! :)

sa looks pareho naman silang ok... sa performance pwede na yung VTI kung city driving lang naman and medyo pahataw-hataw pero shempre kung talagang power gusto mo and someday pang drag mo go with the SIR. :)

but, i suggest you find a stock SIR yung family car talaga hindi yung napormahan na or binalik lang sa stock coz malaki ang possibility na laspag na yung engine or yung car... goodluck! ;)
