i read in the local motoring news it has outsold the honda civic twofold for the 1st quarter this year (tama ba?).  mitsu lancer was 2nd and honda 3rd.

what happened to honda civic? it used to be the best selling car in its class with its EK series (tama din ba?).  what's wrong with the ES?  am planning to sell my EK and buy the new civic pa naman

Like you am also a Honda guy but buyers nowadays have different criterias for purchasing a car.

There are many factors such as price, comfort, availability of parts, gas consumption (especially with today's sky high fuel costs), reliability, etc.

I think that the Altis has addressed much of the demands of today's general motorists (not enthusiasts).

Just my 2 cents. Let;s wait for the inputs of other people.

In addition, I think toyota has more dealerships to reach out to more people.

Just like my case, sa home province walang Honda sa Baguio :( and the nearest is Sn Fernando La Union. Next best choice is Pangasinan, which is so far away. Unlike Toyota and Mitsu meron sa Baguio... and between the two, Toyota na lang ako :D

Ganun din from where I'm working here in the South. Pinakamalapit is Honda Aalabang... tapos di pa maganda customer service nila, partly I guess is bcoz it can't cope up with so many customers. To sum it up, hirap magmaintain ng Honda pag sa province ka. Lalo na't kakaunti pa dealerships.

Unlike Toyota it has more branches, more choices.

And I think toyota is taking more risks with the styling of their new cars and its paying off...

its toyota's time once again..seems that they have a lot of things going for them....reliability (they are not the only one...but they are recognized by it)

i think sa passenger car...its toyota, honda then GM (good success with the optra)...nissan/mitsu after

kung overall... im not sure whether 2nd place is to mitsu, for their commercial vehicles or honda..leadership in the passenger car market

well...there is nothing wrong with the ES per se... its just that more people choose say the altis..or some have switched to GM..realizing value for money ;D

btw...medyo OT na...but I visited Toyota Shaw kanina for periodic maintenance...they were very prompt and maasikaso...and when i got the car back--completely satisfied with the job...  I guess quite a number of people may have shared my experience with toyota

plus got to sit inside the altis...with the exception of the weird HU(may cassette player pa kasi)...its a really good solid car...

its really about time that toyota has come up with the altis. back then, honda was the most advanced in body and engine design. so choosing between an ae111 corolla and an ek civic was a no brainer....civic.

the altis was a very big improvement over the previous corolla. and now, at par na siya with honda because of its vvt-i. and with the affordability/availabilty good buy talaga ang altis.

but if you're gonna ask me, i'd still choose the civic, especially 2.0 variant. for me mas advance pa rin ang honda in terms of engine design/technology.

As of the April 2004 report of CAMPI, Toyota topped all passenger car segments with the Vios, Altis and Camry. Another grand slam looming for Toyota. The Revo is still market share leader for the AUV segment. If this goes through, it will be the third one in a row. They have strong products, I think this is the main selling point for their cars.

I beg to disagree. In the 1.6-liter segment, its actually the Altis in 1st, Civic in 2nd, Lynx in 3rd, Optra in 4th, Lancer in 5th and Sentra in 6th.

Halos toyota naman kahit sa ibang bansa kasi reliable..
V10 - 5000cc - 507 bhp @ 7750 rpm - 520 Nm@ 6100 rpm - 8250 rpm - Front-Engine/RWD - 7-Speed SMG
