Hello AI audio peeps!

Any feedback/reviews/comments on this 2 DIN HU?  It's stock in the gen2 4X4 CRV.  I plan to install one in a gen1 CRV with a basic SQ setup.  Will I have any problems on installation (wiring, dash fit)?

Thanks in advance!

AFAIK there'll be no fitment issues since Gen1 and Gen2 CR-V has the same 2-DIN slot. Wirings lang siguro since di parehas ang harness since Kenwood ang stock Head unit ng Gen1 CR-V (even the Gen2 4 x 2 CR-V's).

Pero madali na lang gawan ng paraan ito, as long malaman ang mga kulay ng wires as to which is which, puwedeng mag-tap na lang ng signals/power from the lumang harness papunta sa bagong harness.

Addition: Mukhang OK naman iyong head unit, has 9-band graphic EQ, but I think the issue would be the flexibility. If I read the specs right, it only has one pair of RCA Preouts (either non-fading or sub), so either you risk the feature of not controlling your sub from the head unit or buying LOC (line output converter) and wire them off sa speaker outputs nung head unit.

And AFAIK di pa yata siya 4v preout.  At di pa siya MP3 capable. For the price tag of this unit dapat meron na itong mga ito.

Kung di mo naman talaga habol iyong cassette nung 2-DIN na head unit, maybe you'd want to consider other 1-DIN head units like from Alpine (CDA-7894, CDA-9813), or from Pioneer din (DEH-7550MP, or kung may budget DEH-P9450MP).

HTH!

Thanks for the reply Raymond!

Actually, I am in the market for a replacement (I plan to stick to 2DIN HU) for my stock Kenwood.  It is currently mated to a basic 1-5.25-10 SQ setup.  In terms of flexibility, it may not be a problem since I already have a 3 channel crossover with subcontrol.

Now, there is a slightly used FH6200 available for sale (<18k) and I am contemplating on getting this.  There is also a Kenwood DPX-MP4050 (MP3 capable; 2 Preouts-Rear/Non-fading Switchable) available for sale.  How'd you compare the two in terms of quality and workmanship?

Are the 1DIN HU's you mentioned worth the move from 2DIN to 1DIN?

Raymond

Yes, in fact most 1-DIN head units (as in the case of the hi-end ones) often surpasses the features that a 2-DIN has.

Since may outboard x-over ka na naman, I think ok na iyong Pioneer. Mura na nga rin siya for the price.

sprinkles,

i have the DPXMP-4050 in my car. had it for almost a year now. so far ok naman. i only brought it once for lens cleaning. i think its the cheapest and full featured 2 din's HU's around. it has dsp and mp3. but aesthetically, the pioneer looks better though.

Raymond,

Thanks again for your replies. Finally had the FH-P6200 (from a gen2 4x4 CRV) installed last Saturday.  I'm pretty pleased with it.  It's a good enough upgrade/update from the stock gen1 CRV HU. Swak na swak yung installation.

jason/non-vtec,

Was contemplating on that too.  But, you're right, the Pioneer is more pleasing to the eye.  It came down to mp3 capability vs. aesthetics.  Guess which one prevailed?

Thanks for your help!

congrats on your HU!  ;)
