good day sirs.

interested in starting my set-up and just read A+'s post. Galing! laking tulong. kaya lang would like to ask for more help/specifics.

music played in my car varies kc depende kung sino kasabay - classical for my in-law, jazz/pop for my wife, techno,hip-hop,new wave pag ako lang- so mejo varied.
for this need/usage, what features/specs of the HU/seps/amps should i look for?

tried looking at specs and andami terms/features, nakakahilo.

for pioneer HUs, what model would be appropriate kung CDs lang (no MP3)? with remote sana. also, impt ba ang high volt pre-outs? ilan ang kailangan ko? if the HU already has x-overs, then that means i dont have to get a separate one, right?

if my HU does not have x-vers, which is preferable, an amp with built-in x-overs or separate pa?

also, patulong naman po kung paano ko ima-match ang specs ng different parts/components (rms, impedance, etc). takot ko kc baka yung mauna ko bilhin, say seps, would be inappropriate for the amps. magulo ba? sorry, medyo in the dark pa. ???

thanks very much for the help.

whoa nelly!  :)

good to hear that you're on your way to setting up your sounds.

i understand your predicament as i too was confused about the terms and equipment that came with this "hobby."

but before anything else, i would like to ask you how much you plan to spend on your system.

the rationale behind it is: we can go on and on recommending this and that component to match this and that component but in the end it does not or cannot apply to you because the component is either too much or too "affordable." the budget thus gives us the basis on how you plan to achieve  your system.

thanks!
If I were you, I'd look at myself in the mirror and ask, "Now what can I add to my system today?"

hans

first q is budget... then punta ka nalng sa respected shops like mickeys, audiologic, intense and mach2

since varying yun music, i cannot really recommend a particular type of seps. may kanya kanyang tunog sila eh and will vary kapag ibang music pinapatunog mo. the tweets also contribute a lot to the type of music na masbabagay doon.

if walang mp3, no problem. may mga hardcore audio gurus na ayaw ng mp3 because of its quality. personally, if meron eh di ok. pag wala, no prob! get a HU with a high voltage pre-out. nagkamali ako dyan dati. if ur HU has a x-over ok nadin. pero may mga iba na serious talga sa set-up, they will buy another one kasi typically hindi ganun ka ok yun quality ng x-over sa HU unless cguro medyo high-end binili mo.

about the matching impedances, research ka sa net about the relationships. basically for a quick guide, rms is the average power output of an amp or the power output na capable yun patakbuhin ng seps/subs. impedance is the resistance which is met by the power. if u increase impedance, bababa yun power. overview lang yan. trust me, it gets more complicated than that. try looking for past threads also, sa alam ko madami na nadiscuss about that. goodluck!
We simply attempt to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy only when others are fearful.

omeldoc

thanks for the replies guys.

you're right, there's still so much to research  :-\

right now, i'm willing to spend at most 10T for every part (HU, seps and amps muna, saka na siguro sub), so 30T set-up. kung me part na lower than 10, increase ko na lang budget for the other two. Ok n kaya yun?

HaVoC

ok na yung budget niyo na yan sir!

seps: dls up6 - 10K sa C3
hu: pioneer deh-4650 - around 10K (correct me if i'm wrong)
amp: kayo na po mag-suggest at wala akong ma-isip.   ;D
If I were you, I'd look at myself in the mirror and ask, "Now what can I add to my system today?"

tebenets

havoc:

Since sinuggest mo na DLS Seps. DLS amp Classic series na siya para match.

omeldoc:
try looking for Alpine na cda9813 or cda9827. although capable siya magplay ng mp3 cds, you can still play ordinary cds with it. plus may built-in crossover na siya.

HaVoC

tama! straight dls! gandang combi yun!
If I were you, I'd look at myself in the mirror and ask, "Now what can I add to my system today?"

omeldoc

pardon the ignorance po...DLS is a brand, right?

tanong po ulit. how do i know if my car's power supply can handle the demands of the system i'm installing?

also, should the power of my HU matter much kung maglalagay din naman ng amps? what RMS range for seps, amps and subs would you recommend for an SQ set-up? for an SPL set-up? salamat!

Here's another newbie question:

I have factory speackers (front and rear) in my car. The only thing I added is a V12 alpine 4-ch amplifier.

I'm thinking of buying a new set of seps for the front but i don't think i'll have enough left to buy a subwoofer.

My question is: is it possible to further filter the sound so that the rear fills only play bass and other low-end sound?

Is there a cross over that can do this?

I've alread set the low-pass filters on my amp but still i can still hear a lot of vocals and other high end sounds.

thanks a lot. sorry if this sounds stupid.

not stupid at all men. ginagawa talaga yan. what are your rearfills ba? 6x9? kung 6x9, what you do is cut the wires that attach to the tweeters. then cross your 6x9 the way you'd cross your sub (LPF set at 50hz or below or whatever suits you).

iyong iba nga pinuputol pa mismo iyong wiring ng tweeter dun sa 6 x 9.

Yup, that should do for the meantime. :)

I think 6.5 inch yung size ng speakers ko sa likod eh. Sige subukan ko muna. Pag hindi nagwork saka na lang ako bibili ng subs.

thanks

joms

omeldoc - pre, it would greatly help if you would give us a budget so that we can suggest whats the best upgrade you can do =)

omeldoc

sir joms,
let's say me pioneer deh4650 or 5650 ako (mejo yun lang swak sa budget eh) then siguro allot a maximum of 10T each for seps, subs and amps. DLS seps and amps were suggested earlier (up6 and classic). any other sugg? how would i set it up? ???
