I normally use Vic oil filter, and so far, there are no problems encountered yet. K&N also has their own, but at a price.
The EK is the birth of the genuine Civic Type R.

yeah, vic isn't bad. we've been using these since the start of the shop and ok naman sila.

of course if you can afford k&n then better.

Migs, I always thought that in terms of filters, it is best to use OEM.  But as I read through this thread, it seems that replacement filters (Vic, et. al.) are good enough?  Am I getting the right impression?

I have never bought a replacement filter as I have always used the OEM, wittingly or unwittingly.  How much of a price difference would the OEM filters be compared to the replacements?

speedyfix

well my personal experience tells me that replacement filters are good enough for my car. not sure how much orig filters are (that's how long i've been using replacement ones) but we sell most of the oil filters in the shop at aroun 200 bucks +/- depending on the size and application:)

Actually, I wasn't worried about the replacement filter leaking.  I was just wondering if these Vic filters "filtered" as efficiently as the OEM.  I would suppose one would know the answer to that by checking on the dipstick periodically to find out the quality of the oil.  It's just that this is an eye-opener for me.....I was always taught that these replacement filters were no good.  Seems they're okay.  I may just try them out myself next time.

Thanks for the info, guys.

FYI, madami rin fake oem filters sa market.

Haven't heard of that Micro brand you mentioned yet. Popular replacement brands would be Vic and Purolator. The former being made in Japan although maraming counterfeit. Purolator is a US brand, don't know if its still made in the US though.

most of the time, OEM are still better.
Its called Individual Differences.

DEAL WITH IT!!

really? for me pareho lang. its how often you change your oil that matters anyway.

but if im driving a relatively bnew car. then OEM na lagi sa casa.

speedyfix

yeah, kung magiging regular naman yung maintenance mo then the slight benefit that the origs can give will probably be negated.
