If you can suggest a general course of action to our national leaders (whoever they may be) with the objective of lifting up this long suffering nation of ours, what would it be?

creepy

Impeach and arrest Gloria.  Then arrest the Arroyo boys as well.  Put them in jail beside the other big crook - Erap Velarde as well as his mistresses and children who've benefited from his plunder.  Dapat kapitbahay sila sa kulungan, para talagang parusa!

Without a strong hand against criminals in office, crooks like them will always act with impunity.

Afterwards, move to a parliamentary form of govt.  That form of govt won't be perfect but it would be a step in the right direction.

we have/had good long and short term plans

problem lies in execution/implementation

to answer the question, political will to execute according to plan

we have NO good long and short term plans, we do not even need to talk about execution and implementation.

the fundamentals needed are not present. example: we need money, yet we pass on higher taxes and insert provisions on evat.

alam mo ba kung anu ang effect ng input output vat? this means that 70% nalang ang reimbursible mo from taxable transactions. instead of 90% so this translates to a 5% hit on profit. plus next year pag raised na ang VAT plus 2% ulit. so kung sa every 100pesos na benta 10pesos ang kita mo, magiging 3pesos nalang...

so how is that a good plan for an ailing local business climate with rising cost of business in a third world country with high unemployment and low monthly income households??? buti naman kung sana tulad tayo ng ibang bansa na maganda ang social services. e sa LTO nga lang kikikilan ka pa eh!

i hate to admit it, but this is what we need...IMO, the ff. are good candidates: duterte of davao, bayani fernando & siguro nga si ping...these people are fierce & doesn't flip-flop when pressured by the media (as far as i know)...palagay ko, it's about time we try them...but then again, remember martial law? ???

GMA's 10 point agenda...if realized (even half of it)... is a pretty good long term plan...its how we get there that is the challenge

1) Computerization of BIR. it's not a matter of raising taxes, its a matter of plugging the loopholes and stamping out corruption in the BIR/customs, etc.

2) Due to #1, government can raise the basic pay of government officials. this reduces corruption.

3) if mataas na pay nila and they still get money, kill them. dapat ifiring squad sa luneta, walang awa dapat. no mercy. tapos televised pa live sa TV at radio.

4) improve infrastructure after implementing 1,2,3. business will not flourish unless RP improves its infrastructure. productivity will increase as well if this is done.

We simply attempt to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy only when others are fearful.

General Plan: A Cultural Revolution*

To Promote the ideology of Servant-Leadership (not to mean na isang Rally lang, bibigay agad, but to minimize the reasons why people need to have rallies to begin with) - To follow along hte teachings of Christ, Aristotle, Hegel, St. Augustine and Kung Fu Tze, that the ideal of "Utopia" is simply impossible (Utopia means "nowhere") and yet a Leadership that springs forth from the COMPETENT authority and consent of the People will have the entire people playing a part in the execution of the highest Virtues in the course of Realizing the Highest Good which is the State of Justice.

To ensure that this does not stop with a single generation of leaders, the DECS must be seriously reformed. Plato's "The Republic" and Aristotle's "Nicomachean Ethics" and "Politics" will be COMPULSARY reading for Primary schools. Language will be centralized into Tagalog and Cebuano - and before you can object by arguing that they are cultures into their own right - primary schoolkids should be capable of defending the policy with 3 Words : "ALL UNDER HEAVEN".

Oh yeah, before I forget, the only one to make this all possible: WILL (as in Hegel's dialectics). Kill everyone who served in the governments prior to the reform, including their families, since they have already been corrupted by the system that their forebears corrupted.

*remember that governance takes place within a cultural context.ergo, if the context can be manipulated, like Hegel and Kant did with the previosly worthless and bickering German peoples and Princes, then the easier will it be for the succeeding governments to translate plans into action.

miracle

Miracles don't always fall from heaven. Miracles can be produced by Choice and Hman will...for starters, let's start obeying trffic laws to the letter (I'll start giving way to ALL pedestrians, not just in the village or in campus, but still NO when in Commonwealth, sobra na yun). :)

Remember "Bruce Almighty"? "Be the Miracle".

tapos nadin ako sa wakas sa schooling but poor children, are u going to force them to take up politics at such an early age? common let them enjoy childhood. IMO, ang bata ay bata, let them be.  ;D

I agree. Pipe down with the intellectual overload for kids. There will be a time for those, something like high school or college or something. Unless you're saying this because you regret knowing these only now.
