To all Jazz owners:

What is your average gas consumption (kms/liter)? Kindly indicate what Jazz model (1.3 or 1.5) you drive and if Manual or CVT. Thanks!

Hi Guys!

Just to update:

I also have a Jazz 1.5 CVT (less than 1000 kilometers too) and my mileage computation from my first full tank is 8.2km/l. Used Petron Xtra Unleaded. I hope I can make it to 10km/l!

kala ko noon it can go as high as 15kms/liter (city driving)...kaya when I got  10kms/liter na-disappointed pa ako.

taas lang siguro expectation ko....sobra kase mag-build-up yung agent.

Is there a way to maximize the fuel economy of this car? I really like driving it around.

actually mahirap makuha yun ganun mileage...especially dito sa manila ang traffic sobra...siguro you can get that mileage pag biyahe na ang usapan....well it depends parin sa traffic conditions when you drive around the metro

the S.A. at honda advised us to put the a/c thermostat at the lowest but comfortable setting. but i think that after the break in period, fuel efficiency will improve.

Yes the engines need some break-in period. Actually the mileage I mentioned came from a "fresh" test unit from Honda Cars Philippines with less than 5,000 km. on the odometer. So I personally believe it could achieve a better fuel consumption than the one I mentioned.

If you have a CVT:

1.) As much as possible avoid using the "S" detent on the lever since I've noticed that it prolongs the transition of the cones to a higher (numerically lower gear). Pirmi na lang sa "D" ok na. Avoid also using the 6-speed sports mode.

2.) For everyone's info, the VTEC engine on the Jazz CVT is a VTEC-E, meaning, on lower engine speeds the engine is in 12 valve mode and upon reaching a certain RPM it will start operating in 16 valve mode. So IMHO you could get maximum mileage on 2,000 rpm below (1,500 rpm will do).

3.) If you have stock wheels and tires, try inflating it a little bit higher (i.e. 32 front, 30 rear).

raymond for the manual vtec jazz naman...same process din ba as vtec-e ng cvt? or 16valve mode na agad from the start :)
