Yeah this one is in the Carrera GT and Mercedes SLR performance level, only slightly slower than the Enzo.  

It's a lot lighter than than the 575M too.  First time an Alcoa aluminum chassis (first seen in the 360) sees service on a Ferrari V-12 flagship.  The Maranello had a steel chassis.

Styling is controversial.  Personally I don't like the flying butresses and the mono rearlights.  Otherwise I like the general shape better the Maranello's.

that's only a bit slower than an Enzo, which can do it in 3.3 secs.

but 0-200 in 11 seconds dead must be KMH, not MPH.

the Enzo does 0-125 MPH (or 0-200 KMH) in 9.5 seconds.  no way that the 599 can do 0-200 MPH in only 1.5 seconds more.  not with more weight and less HP.

it must be 0-200 KMH then.  11 secs to the 200 KMH mark is very very very fast.  for perspective, a stock Evo does 0-160 KMH in around 13 seconds.

not quite in Carrera GT or McLaren F1 territory though.  Like the Enzo, those are all sub-10 second cars (0-200 KMH).

and yes, a LOT more expensive than the new GT3.  the Porsche costs $US 106,000, base price.  this new car is the top of the line Ferrari, so expect it to cost EASILY twice as much as the Porsche.  i'm guessing over $US 250,000.

Don't mean nitpick either but checkout the 0-200 numbers on the AMS test.

Based on engine ratings (605 to 627-bhp) and curb weight (1600 kg plus for the 599 and the CGT and a porker 1750 for the SLR), I think the 599 will slot nicely between the SLR and the CGT performance-wise.

looking at the back, the sheetmetal retains the fastback shape, but the glass panel has a different angle - does this mean it has a sedan/coupe-style trunk now?

That's why a lot of people, including me, love Ferrari's...they know how to design the sexiest cars aside from being one of the fastest!
