Good Afternoon to Team AUTOINDUSTRIYA...sir, I would just like to get some advice or opinion from the team, regarding the scheduled replacement of Timing Belt as per the Vehicle maintenance Manual (For Toyota GLi, 1.6L, model 2000) which says that replacement for Timing Belt is after 150,000 KM...The question is, can I really rely on this data from my vehicle's manual considering the advice of some mechanics and friends that I should replace my timing belt once I reach 80,000Km...I have an idea of how worst it is once you damage your timing belt while you are driving on a highway...I just want to get some opinion from the team, regarding the reliability of our vehicle's maintenance manual whwn it comes to this subject matter...many thanks and more power...

on my present and previous cars, I replaced my T-Belts when I reached a little over 80K kilometers.

A lot of people say 80K is a bit early, pero sa akin tama lang yun.

150K kilomters, hmm... I think that's pretty risky.

For me, the muanual is not reliable. I usually have it checked with my mechanic. Timing belt replacement will depend on how you drive. I just had mine replaced after running 100,000 km

wasSup guys. well as far as I know,  you need to replace the Timing Belt at every 60K or 90K miles. also, it depends on what kind of driving conditions your car goes through. pag normal city driving, its OK to replace the Timing Belt at every 90K OR 100K miles. and pag highway / freeway driving (specially if your engine is always at higher RPM's) or if you always race your car,  then dapat every 60K miles.   dont forget to replace the Water Pump as well!  ;D aite, latez! -KBR

Are you referring to your Sentra or X-Trail?

For me 100T km on orig timing belt is ok for as long as it's normal driving. Pero 150T km may be risky. Tamang tama na cguro 100T. Hopefully you will use original timing belt din sa pag replace mo. Small investment for worry-free driving

im using not orig timing belt.  :(  almost 1 yr na. how long should i replace this kind of belt. additional cost nanaman kasi pag magpapalit uli ako eh. pwede ko ba pa abutin atleast 30k km bago ko replace? ok lng ba yun? tnx

For me, 30,000 km is ok but I advise caution. Try to check it every change oil. I there is noticeable differernce with the noise, have it checked immediately.

i once experienced maputulan ng timing belt along EDSA. it wasn't pretty. marami naging complications. wala pa kasi ako masyadong alam sa auto nun. my mileage that time was around 112k. so for me okay lang magpalit sa 100k though medyo critical na yun. as for a timing chain, unless i'm wrong, they have a longer lifespan yata than belts.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you.

yeh, Timing chain's usually lasts more than 200K to 300K miles. the only thing youll have to replace every 100K miles (well, depending on the driving condition) is the timing chain tensioner. like the Mercedes-Benz's, some Toyota's and Nissan's have the best Timing Chain design. aite, latez! -KBR

I once used GATES brand timing belt for my lancer 1995 GLI. Used it for almost three years (about 50T km na rin ang travel) with four long travels (two at Manaoag Pangasinan and two at Subic, both trips originated from Calamba) and when i sold it the new owner told me na sana pala di niya pinapalitan muna yung timing belt kasi maganda pa daw yung belt. See I bought a bnew original timing belt for him as part of our sale agreement. That Gates belt cost me about Php 350.00 only but really worth it :)

So para sa akin 30-50T km would be enough. Bili ka nalang ng original belt. As a suggestion buy it sa casa kasi may umiikot na mga fake timing belt na branded as original. Para assured ka lang na original ang binibili mo.
