hmm...ok but how about the plate covers with the brand of the car written underneath, it also blocks the plate hindi nga lang tinted. Mine has a light blue tint and hindi naman malabo actually parang clear glass na nga eh. Oh well...if nahuli ako i'll let you guys know to save you guys from the hassle.

I'm pretty sure it will only be a matter of time when cops, mmda and the like will notice the proliferation of the tinted plates and start catching these people. To some it may seem cool but personally, I think it's stupid because it nullifies the purpose of having a plate number to begin with and that is the identification of your car should you decide to do something really dumb.

How would you feel if a car with a tinted plate hits you and runs away and all you can tell the police is that a silver Civic/Corolla hit your car?

It should be banned and deemed illegal.

The reason why you should have plates mounted is for safety and security purposes.

If you get into a hit-and-run accident, good luck trying to read the tinted plate.

i think it's tempered glass pag galing sa Aguila yan. and AFAIK, it's not tinted, ganun talaga color nung tempered glass. ung tinted, pinalagyan ng tint un. and BAWAL un pag gabi nag check point. my friend got caught one time coz of this. 2,500 hiningi sa kanya for "settlement"

Be it bawal or not, siguro road courtesy na lang natin that we keep the license plates visible.  It doesn't take half an idiot to know why license plates are required on vehicles.

Unless you also want to have your vehicle's photos added in the Goon Squad forum.

Aguila covers are not that dark.  Iba talaga yung super tinted plate covers.

IMO this are the illegal ones.. what's the purpose of putting a plate number if your putting a dark glass to cover it? i would understand the other light colored glass but this one..

I have the tempered glass covers. They come in light blue or green yes? Some ppl add tint, with the EXPRESS purpose of hiding what they can point to the cops as "not hiding".

Naturally, while the tempered glass isnt as clear as nothing on your plates at all, they're plenty visible, so i dont find anything wrong with them. So far, neither do the mmda. It may be a matter of time though before they decide they can catch you for it. If they do, its probly bec they need an extra reason for their extra beer

Although I am not a fan of these tinted plates for the same reasons as everybody else in this thread agrees on, I do have to point out an abuse of power of the cops.

Next time anybody is pulled over for a violation like this, don't get ripped off by the cops. The only thing they have against you is "Unconsicuously displayed plates" which carries a mere 150 peso fine.

If it is not legal then in the first place di siya binebenta ng malalaking glass company like Aguila. Dapat sila ang pinaka unang ma reprimand. But then again ...  

Anyway Pinapalit ko na lang ng plexiglass na light blue yung shade. Para visible pa rin siya even at night.
