Hi A+!

Super informative and enlightening yung tips mo. I should say that every audio newbie must read your tips. Anyway, papuntang step 5 na ako, and am looking for a good stereo or mono amp to drive two CompVRs with dual 4-ohm voice coils.

Kudos to you A+! :)

This will surely help a lot out there, mahirap kasi sa hobby natin, there are so many brands/products to choose from.

Let's say
Low Budet:
Recommened: Targa seps, V12 amps, fenton amps etc ...

Mid Budget:
Recommended: Lightning Audio, DLS classsic, JBL GTO etc...

Big Budget:
Recommeded: Dynes, JL Audio W7, etc...

Mga Guys
Thanks kasi  madami akong free time kaya ko ginawa itong tips but syempre hangang kaya ng budget or how far you wana invest or go. Pwede din low to medium budget pero buy the entry level ng good brands padin kasi pag say 25k na soso brand dagdag ka konte say 5-6k sa entry level ng popular brand mas sure ka sa quality. :)

Kasi dami kong na encounter pumupunta sa shop na set up nila nasa almost 50k na medyo di pa maganda ang brand after na dinig ang sound and quality ng system nila at demo namin nag sisisi sila kasi at that price they could have gotten a higher quality for that budget.

It is more than adjusting gain, balance, fader, or adjusting your x-over.

We do this more of for hobby than making money. Just only 1 product we carry how much can we make well enuff for our luho lang hehehe. I believe in JL and had opportunity to sell it so we took it. Im not planning to carry other product na in the future including diamond unless upon request or order kahit maganda sya maybe seps lang for a few people who likes it specially the 3way hex.

I guess i just gave you my profile :)

Schuey

In your case may gamit kana might as well use it na until may budget kna pang palit kaya para sa mga di pa nag umpisa mas ok mag plano. I can help you sa sytem mo Para sa akin to attain good sounding system
      1.  Good head unit
      2.  3way seps
      3.  Kick panel
      4.  Equalizer
      5.  Good x-over
      6.  medium amp and subs ok lang

Goodluck to all :)

A+,

For rear seps, I would recommend a frequency bandpass of 400-7000 Hz na naka-reverse ang polarity and played very soft.

Yung damping factor ng JL is >500.  Yung iba is less than 250 or 100. It is also a reason in which most people prefer solid state amps for subs than tube amps.  Tubes sound very round in the bottom end and sound sloppy, IMHO.  But then, some people look for than roundness. IMHO, bass guitar or kickbass ng drums doesn't sound round...they sound tight.  Pero ganun talaga, it still depends on personal preference.

A+,

Reversing the polarity will cause a slight delay which would have a reverberant effect kaya parang mas lumalaki at lumalawak ang sound stage.

If you have a 30 band EQ, subukan mo i-decrease yung 4-6k HZ  increase mo ng konti yung 8-10k Hz.

this was a great post! galing... now andun nako sa step 2! hehe buying decent seps....sq to sql sana.... uhm sa car ng brother ko, infinity ref 655cs ginamit namin and v12...its a budget set up pero malinis naman... magnda siya i think more of tuning kailangan and a sub to "complete" it, wer actually looking for a jl 12"w0-4 para sa brother ko...

now im jus figuring for the mean time na wala pa akong money for the amp that would "really drive" the seps maybe another infinty, can i just use the internal amp of the 7894rb? its 60x4, palagyan ko lang ng direct connection to the battery as per manual suggested if ur gonna be using the internal amp... would dis be ok? temp lang and buy muna and amp and sub, tapos next na amp naman for the seps?

pls help! baka masayang eh

pahabol! ehhe how do u actually classify if a component is entry level, mid, or top of the line?

thanks!!

Billabong

yes, you may use the built-in amp of the head unit to power the seps.

how to classify? for example JL Audio:
w0 sub = entry level
w3v2/w6v2 sub = mid level
w7 sub = top of the line
TR seps = entry level
VR seps = mid level
XR seps = top of the line
a "bighead" results 2 endless nothingness -- teaches humility.

Lancer Usually ang basis for these levels is the price. Ask for the store for the cheapest and most expensive stuff from a particular manufacturer. Let's say Pioneer headunits, AFAIK yung entry level is 6K then yung mga top of the line is 30+K. So based sa price you will know these levels.

Pag gusto mo SQ, important ba Equalizer? Bakit parang konti nalang nabibili na Equalizer?

Edwin

Sir vic and audio gurus;

Your topic was really helpful. Recently the audio bug bit me and suddenly im all crazy to set up my sounds. I wish to ask your opinion on my set up which was limited due to budget constraints.

1. HU - Pioneer (1998 model) PHsomething forgot but the unit is in good condition.
2. CD Changer - 6 disc pioneer
3. Seperates - AURA, which includes 2 front speaker and tweeters.
4. Rear Speaker - Pioneer 3 way
5. Subwoofer - KicX brand with box got it second hand but 3 months old lang. 300 watts, 12 inches.
6. Amplifier - Alpine V12 (bibilhin pa lang)

I got ligthning audio wires to interconnect them all. Now okay lang ba set up na to? What would be the flaws? I wanted sana good SQ with a little SPL.

Hope you can help me before I have everything installed and set up.

Thanks,

For me, an equalizer should be the last resort in setting up your system.  You try to juice out the best natural sound your speakers can come out with without equalization, and finish it off with an equalizer if you want to achieve some improvements.

Marami pa ring equalizers available out there, you just have to know where to look.  However, Winterpine has stopped importing AudioControl products, so limited na yung choices mo.  By the way, I have a second-hand AC EQL for sale.  Just PM me if you're interested.

audio newbie

i went to recommended shops at Banawe such as intense, jetcar, etc to ask for a low-budget setup. my budget is 30K. complete setup na sana since im not much of an audiophile naman. i just want better sounds.

the brands that they recommended to me are:
-solid audio (seps, sub, ampli)
-audiobank (subs)
-viper (ampli)
etc

ok ba mga brands na to? coz di nabanggit ni A+ but he said na ok na ang around 30K na budget but wala yata ung mga brands na kilala.

or baka merong pwedeng magsuggest?
