Just wanted to ask kung ano sa tingin niyo ang mas maganda sa dalawa?  i'm choosing to buy, and i've narrowed down my choices to these 2 models. Any input would be appreciated.  Salamat!

the 1.8G altis for me is like a baby camry.. while the 2.0 i-vtec is more of a sport sedan.

i feel its more of a personal preference than a head to head comparison.  :)

I agree with CtLim76,  it's more of personal preference.

im currently driving a 1.8g altis, i can honestly say na matipid sa gas, ave city driving 7-8km to a liter, ave out of town driving 10-11km to a liter! the headunit sucks tho, namimili ng CD's and it doesn't play cd-r's, stock sound system was good!

the 2.0 ivtec civic looks better than the altis i must admit! lol

just my .2 cents

Altis for me, better handling and fuel efficient, ES civics suspension sucks, good looks lang :)

7-8km to a liter?? really?? i had a 1.6G altis and it only did 7km to a liter at its best. average is 6.5. hindi naman ako humahataw... just wondering... :-\

a-boy,
i think it's because of a bigger engine, the engine has to do less work since its pulling a lighter car... overpowered yung 1.8g i guess!

sa looks mas maganda yung civic pero kung over all siguro altis.. tsaka matipid ata ang altis sa gas. mahal pa naman ang gas ngayon. sa power not sure kasi halos di naman sila nagkakalayo ng hp..

Power-Wt ratio:
Civic 2.0:  124-hp/ton @6500-rpm
Altis 1.8G:  119-hp/ton @6000-rpm*

* Based on 134-hp max. power.  Funny, only the Philippine version Altis "claims" 145-hp for the 1.8G, the rest of the planet it is claimed at 134-hp.   ???

Torque-Wt ratio:
Civic 2.0:  142-Nm/ton @5000-rpm
Altis 1.8G:  151-Nm/ton @4200-rpm

My verdict:  If you're after exhilirating driving, go for the Civic 2.0.  If you're a relaxed driver, go for the Altis 1.8G.

my vote goes to the 1.8G...i like the added features :)

it really depends on what you want from a car.

if you want a sporty drive, go for the Civic. if you want a relaxed drive, go for the Altis. you can't go wrong with either. ;)

thanks for all your comments guys.  laking tulong.  i'm looking for a car that is fun and exciting for me to drive, yet safe and solid enough to drive my family (baby included) in.  right now i'm leaning towards the altis.  thanks again!

El

fun and exciting...parang mas ok ata yung civic...then again..you might wanna get the version with manual transmission

R-A-Y

There is no manual transmission for the Civic 2.0 i-VTEC so we will just all have to deal with an A/T variant.

gss95: I don't think an Altis is a bad choice :) it's a pretty sturdy car with good gas mileage, and ffor me surprisingly nimble for a car that gives a 'gordo' impression upon first glance. Coupled with Toyota reliability and you got a good family car :)

The Civic, on the other hand, looks more cool and is really fun to drive ;D

both choices are good.  i have a altis 1.8G,  havent had any problems with it yet. (knock on wood).  my brother-in-law has a 2003 civic.  he is having problems with his aircon already.  my altis is a 2002.  the altis has a 6 speaker stereo, while the civic still only has 4. (i think).
i drive my altis pretty hard.  expect to replace the brake pads more often in an automatic.  replace the ATF on a regular basis.  Traffic kills automatic transmissions.
