I'm planning on subscribing to C!..but with the recent release of Top Gear Phils, i'm confused if I should still continue or check out Top Gear first.

Your inputs please.  Thanks.

if you to compare the very 1st issue of C! (2-3 years ago) and the recent issue of top gear, then i'll choose top gear.
but of course, top gear still gotta catch-up.

editorial-wise, i pick top gear.  new & funnier.

both magz are good, as long they dont have the same coverage & story.
Its called Individual Differences.

DEAL WITH IT!!

Why not both? :) Its good to have a second opinion on everything right? Especially if it involves spending large wads of money, as I assume you will be using the car mags as a reference for purchasing.

I agree that the debut issue of TG is pretty darn good. Coverage wise, TG has the british stuff that C! lacks. On the local content both are similar. Comparing price and  content, TG is better value and much more engaging read.

Did you all find that the advertisers are so similar in both mags ?. Errie feeling...

topgear for me! ok din yung C! but pro postive aspects lang nung cars yung sinasabi nila eh. but i'm sure the writers can't help it rin because its pretty hard to borrow a car from the dealerships thats why they hve to somehow kiss ass cguro...

top gear din me... the uk articles alone sulit na

C! gets my vote...

Top Gear is a great looking mag but the local articles dont' have instrumented testing unlike C!. Jeremy Clarkson's Benz SLR (626bhp, 0-100kph in 3.8 secs)and Carrera GT (612bhp, 3.9 secs) article was great and his words were strong-- calling a spade-a-spade. He had the gall to test a $400,000 car to its limits and criticize it by saying "Interestingly, after 10 high-speed stops, the McLaren Mercedes brakes caught fire... I must also say, at low speeds, the Merc's brakes squeal like a stuck pig, and almost have no feel."

On the flipside, Top Gear's local writer, JV Colayco, states that the SLK 200's 163hp "delivers ample dynamic thrills... Accelerating from 0-100kph (62mph) in 8.3 seconds, it is quick enough to befit its overtly zoomy appearance..."

I say: That's crap since a P4M-plus 2-seat sports car should go faster than that and, for that price, that's embarrasing performance. Top Gear's local writer says these praises of the SLK as he compares the 163bhp roadster to a 343hp M3 and a 320hp 911 Carrera. Hmm... Nice attitude. After just screwing with two 300-plus hp icons, he still has nice things to say about a misplaced 163hp dressed-up, but expensive, sub-performer.

FYI, at P125 per issue, I'm still buying the local Top Gear... But, it will be for the foreign car articles derived from the UK version and to support the local off-road contributors who happen to be friends of mine.

Top Gear isn't really an off-road magazine so I didn't judge it as such.

The spec box of Top Gear isn't as complete as C! and there aren't 0-60mph or 0-100kph times for many of the local car tests.

In contrast, the September issue of C! has the new 911 (997) on cover and a headline (or sub-headline) that states "3.8-liters, 355hp, 0-100 in 4.8 secs..." If I'm bench racing, drooling over a dream car, in the market of purchasing one, or a real car enthusiasts worth his 2-cents, these are the numbers I want to see.

Top Gear mag's best bet at authenticity would be to just to completely re-print the UK issue and sell it at P125.
