Hi Guys,

I have the current generation Prado.  Its ride is quite stiff compared to that of the previous generation ('99)Expedition, which is my only point of comparison.  I am told that the current generation Patrol rides quite stiffly as well.

Heard from a friend that replacing the shocks and springs will improve the ride.  Will replacing just the shocks also improve the ride?  Any other suggestions on how I can improve the ride?  I don't want it to be wallowy/boaty as that of the Expedition, but I want to reduce the stiffness.

Also, what brands do you recommend for shocks and springs.

All inputs are appreciated.  Thanks.  ;)

One of the tried and tested aftermarket brand is OME.

I saw a lot of Patrol changed into this brand.  I myself has changed shocks and coil springs of my paj to OME.

You can inquire at RATS alabang.

 Good luck!

Yes !  Big difference, you can feel it on uneven road.... if you're passing by xpress way... the strip going to felinvest, just from Caltex station there is a portion there in the mid lane a typical DPWH way of paving our roads..... bale wala sa OME... but before I felt that uneven roads that much.

I hope you still remember my paj when we EB tayo sa Madrigal starbucks cafe..... sounds set up! tagal na yon.

Even my jeep cherokee has OME shocks installed....

My suggestion is to find someone who has OME and ride with him...... better to experience the ride before you decide. My preference may be different from you.

Ahhhh I remember before... Rats offered to install it and if you're not satisfied no problem to return. They may have demo set units.... just try....

is your prado the one with adjustable suspension? if yes you will have to disable it to install aftermarket spring and shocks.

OME has shocks available for the new generation Prado as long as its not the adjustable suspension of the imported v6.

Hi Peeps,

Just to update you, I had a set of struts/shocks installed in my ride.  And yes, my ride's ride did improve.  It's not as stiff anymore, but not as wallowy as that of the Expy.

Thanks for the suggestions!   ;)

hi is your prado the series 90?thats kinda cheap already for an aftermarket shocks for that series,im looking for shocks also for a 90 series prado, and to my surprise, bilsteins for prado cost 32k,very big diff. compared to lc80 and gen 2 pajero bilsteins.rancho rs9000 naman cost around 30k...so might consider OME for the price.

do you guys have the no. of rats?

Quality is not cheap. If you really want the best for your ride get the Bilstein. The monotube "technology" is far better than twin or tri tube shocks. Heat dissemination is far better than the OLDer technology - thus giving the shocks longer life. HEAT is the number one enemy of gas filled shocks. Seals in monotube shocks last longer than those in twin or tri tube ones.
