how do locally made mufflers from freemuff and mufflerland compare with the JASMA-spec mufflers in terms of performance and noise level?  just curious ...

kaya mas mahal ang JASMA-spec mufflers kasi may added value ung JASMA certification aside from the muffler itself.  baka the locally-made muffs (ie from nodalo's, freemuff, mufflerland) are up to par naman (or at least close to comparable ... good alternative kumbaga.

To quote fafa Weiman "Local mufflers sound cheap". Local mufflers simply cannot compare with imported ones, JASMA or not.

how do they exactly differ?  di ba sa internal design lang naman?  well that's what i can think of kasi in terms of material (ie. stainless steel) same lang naman.  naiisip ko lang talagang pinagkaiba nila are internal design and workmanship (ie. hinang)

Are mufflers universal? As in any muffler like that tanabe g medalion can be put in any car?

How much does it cost?

There are universal jasma mufflers like tanabe and can be welded to your car.. but consider the dimension and bore size ng muffler kung bagay sa engine.  Depende naman iyon sa brand. Meron kasing muffler na chambered tapos sobrang laki so it hangs low on your car... syempre di mo magugustuhan yung ganon..

how about tanabe hyper medallion? bagay kaya sa stock esi engine? my current pipe is 2inch....so if ever palit ko old muffler ko into tanabe hyper medallion yun tanabe itself i think 2.25(surplus) tpos kabit ko sa 2inch pipe ko hindi kaya mag loss ng power?

the universal tanabe g-medallion ranges around 17-18k. :) its available in autocircuit kay kbh.  ;D

Little off topic but what shops would you guys recommend if I get a universal muffler but want to make it bolt on, say to the resonator?  Who is good at making brackets, tubing, connectors etc?

How  wud i know kung JASMA certifed muffler? kc sbi nyo a JASMA type muffler has low bassy sound on idle but more subtle sound on higher revvs? Are Tom's mufflers JASMA certified? gnun kc gamit ko, bassy din ung tunog sa idling tpos tatahimik pag higher revvs na...
why did tom's ever released my car? With nasty looking struts and the heavy body kit, the little 4afe slowed more than ever...

Not sure about others but my Tanabe exhaust came with a piece of paper showing its JASMA compliance and underneath the muffler "JASMA" is imprinted on the stainless steel.

jasma mufflers usually have a seal, as conan mentioned.

freemuff can make that universal muffler practically bolt-on by fabricating its piping. hope this helps

I went to Fujitsubo's web site. They have sample sounds for many cars! (The language is Japanese though).

replacing your muff really is a choice youve have to think about, kung tapos ka na sa intake ok k na sa muff, pero kung basta basta muff lang, e mag stock ka na lang. hanap ka ng branded kahit 2nd hand, or check freemuff for gud buys ;)
