Just for reference.  :)

The JBL and Infinity are of the same company... under Harman/Kardon. Therefore, the performance is not far from each other. Based on me and my friend's listening. both are suitable for rock or heavy metal music because the sound produced is more solid. The sound approach is more like concert/live.

One good seps that I am using now is the Velocity - the flagship of Blaupunkt. I bought two pairs, one 6" and the other 4" that is matched to an 8W stock HU and I am so contented with the sound it produces. The price is just within 5K - 6K. The woofer produces a solid, powerful, clear sound. but the tweeter need a little cutting down in db bec its clarity can cut ear.  :P But overall really its good. Satisfied with it I am.

For the other brands, I have no comment about them yet for I havnt heard the sound it produces.

For now, Im aiming for 2 sets of BA Pro seps for its sound is superb, balance, and clean.

Happy hunting for seps.  :) ;)

The Traga component set is very very impressive... the woofer has a rubber surround, metal cone, and a phase plug (the one that looks like a bullet in the middle of the woofer)... only high-level woofers like Focals use phase plugs.  And they sound good too.  Its woofers have good midbass and bass extension, and the tweets do not sound harsh at all (silk dome tweets).  Plus the tweets can swivel so that they point directly at you regarless of its mounting location (complete with 3 mounting options too).

Do a search on the component set "Crystal CSC60S" and read its reviews... these are identical to the Targas because Dai1chi actually own and manufactures Crystal speakers.  You'll be amazed on what people say about this set.

I highly recommend this set.   I've used Boston Acoustics Pro series and Canton Pullmans before... I like this set the most.

Am intrigued by these Targas. There seems to be wide support for these seps.

What i havent heard though are the negative side. All speakers have weaknessess. Can you share with us what are the negative points of Targas?

All things being equal, will the Targas hold its own against the other speakers mentioned above?

Thanks. I am thinking of putting a rear sep. Targa is a leading candidate....

I think the lack of negative feedback comes from the intense value-for-money ratio plus (now dont give this one any sort of elitist analysis, ill just say it as it is), most who use Targas are happy enough with it not to look around and listen to set-ups that cost much more (well, that's the case for the people I actually know, but Im sure not for all, especially those who are members of carclubs, who get to listen to a lot of set-ups).

Now, as for people who would say they are a match for the pricier seps and can say so from listening critically to Targa and the competition, such comments are really telling about what Targas are capable of.

With that said, those who did get to compare them well enough to pricier seps, I remember two general comments from boards or from those I know personally.
1) Just because the price is affordable does not mean that you would be totally OK if you use an "affordable" amp - read: clean signals and overrated power - though not all of them are guilty of both at the same time. Personally, what you save on the seps, you put towards getting a clean sounding and powerful amp. That way you REALLY get to see what these comps are capable of.

2) Some say the Passive X-Overs are not as accurate as others, and I've seen a number of set-ups using active x-overs instead. I'll leave the experts and targa owners to comment on this one, coz I haven't observed this myself.

Thanks. Noted.

Dai-Ichi has been a major supplier of raw drivers to the home and car audio industry for a long time now.  We may not know it because such subcontract agreements prohibit them from trumpeting that fact but they do supply big speaker companies with raw drivers.  Majority of their income comes from exporting those drivers....not from the local fledgling car audio scene that we have here in the Philippines.

Deckard,

Hey for 2 grand/set I bet thats a steal in any which way you look at it.  You are right in saying that all speakers have negatives aside from their positives but I bet those high end brands cant even produce a speaker set that will amount to 2 grand and produce decent sound much like what Dai-Ichi has produced. thats a tremendous achievement in the aspect of price/performance ratio...from a Filipino company to boot.
never compare audio components that are priced in different classes. its like comparing apples to oranges.  Matching is also key..all amps, cables and interconnects have their sonic signatures so careful matching must be done.  it doesnt mean that if you have an expensive amp all of the speakers that you mate with it will sound excellent.

lastly...price is not an indication of how well a product can perform.  Audio is very subjective and its not about how much money you put into it. its all about how much enjoyment you get from it regardless of the amount that you put into it.  my .02 centavos  :)

Guy tatanong ko lang sana kung ano ang difference ng seps instead of using a seperate 2-way 6.5" speaker and a tweeter? meron kasi ako hiwalay na 2-way speaker tska tweeter and i plan to use active crossover nalang for it or iba parin ba ang tunog kung set ng seps ang gagamitin? tnx

"Seps", "Separates", have a separate mid-woofer and tweeter (or woofer/mid-bass,mid-range and tweeter for 3-way) getting separate signals from a passive x-over. normal 2 or 3-way speakers have the tweeter and the midrange right on top of the woofer. You could get better imaging out of the box, coz the tweets are as close as possible to the woofer, but the wiring of the components usually won't allow you to maximize an active x-over - meaning that cant accurately divide the signals.

Some seps like RF's have grills where you can mount hte tweeters; that means you can mimic the imaging of 2/3-way speakers, but the passive x-over controls the frequencies for each part. Polk Audio has a 2-way speaker that has independent wiring of the tweeter and woofer, as well as a passive x-over, so its essentially a component with the tweeter mounted on the woofer.

guys saw this JBL 6" 3way seps... 3500 sa aranata ave.. mura nba un? tama ba price? dko alam price netong mga ito eh

UKING

Question guys,

Dami lumalabas na Pioneer, Sony, etc... na seps/coax na mura. The cheapest I saw for the Pioneer is around 700++ pesos two way 4" 200watts MAX. Tama ba itong presyong to or these seps are fake? Paano mo ba malalaman na genuine Pioneer or Sony Xplod yung binibili mo na seps/coax?

Jango

whoa 700 bucks for pioneer speakers? i doubt it... got a pair (3 ways 6.5 coax) last year and i think it cost 2k-3k. basta get your stuff from a reputable audio shop.

so far mga naririnig ko and napupuntahan ko na ok are:

mach2 - near marcos highway
c3 - banawe
intense - banawe
nihhon - banawe
araneta car accessories - araneta ave
mickey's - near marcos highway

if you want you can go to www.kotseaudioclub.com

may list dun na shops na ok. ok din sobra yung forum dun
id quo maius cogitari nequit

something greater than which nothing can be thought.

UKING

Thanks for the Info bro, really appreciate. Sabi ko na medyo ka-duda yung presyo nung coax na 4" eh... Same sila halos ng price ng Sony X-Plod, ranging from 700 to 1K, 4" coax MAX 200W. I almost bought one kasi talagang di kapani-paniwala eh, buti na lang nakapag tanong ako dito. I saw it nga pala sa GARAGE in Sta. Lucia. Any ideas on the correct price nito? Para kapag nag tanong ako eh malalaman ko kung fake yung binebenta or orig.

Thanks.

colt
