Before the entire ground floor of that building was full of VW stores.  Now, I think only 2 remain.

Air cooled VWs are great to restore.  Once you restore it, it is very cheap to maintain.

Its also cool to see "Cal Look" as in California Look set-ups.  Lowered, fat tires at the back - 225 width, and thin tires up front - 135 width.

Engine mods can easily be done.  A 1300 or 1500 beetle can easily be beefed up to 1600 status by changing Piston Liners.  Other go fast goodies include Engle mild to wild cams, twin port heads to accept double barrel Webers or Delortos.  And of course, SMT headers mufflers.

Oh don't forget to have SMT make for you a "Stinger".  Its a freeflow tube that looks like a torotot.  Its sort of a scav that is so noisy, great to wake up the neighbors.  You simply remove your SMT muffler (usually 3 bolts that is easily accessible at the back), and bolt on the Stinger.

Dont under estimate this creation of Ferdinand Porsche.  During the 70s, a silver VW owned by the Vic Elizaga easily beat toyotas in drag races.

im not so sure,im not really a big fan of the vw beetle,so im really not familiar with the car,pro nahinayang lang ako eh,its in running condition but the body really needs repairs already,it has a 1300cc engine, small tailights, drum brakes on all four wheels,(meron bang disc brakes for the front wheels?)yun lang differences na nakita ko sa ibang beetle, hindi ko nga alam ano uunahin ko e restore,im also planning to restore or lc40 series, kaya im still making up my mind on what car to start 1st.

and the hardest part is the units are all in the prov. so i have to transport the parts here from manila if ever.

anyway, where can i see the VIN in my beetle?and its my 1st car pla,its where i learned how to drive..hehehe

conan: hanggang late 90's pa din sa Neopolitan Fairview races ng PDRF, pero driver na nya bumibitaw ng VW's of the late Vic Elizaga

meowmix: Ok ha, pati SMT alam mo. Tsaka Cal-look, hehehe. Are you also into VW's? By the way, i have those 135/60/15 front tires and 195/60/15 rear tires on Empi 8-spokes. Check my cardomain link on my sig  ;)

nikko_m : Yup, I recommend that you visit SMT, but not for those loud stingers but for their quiet-pack mufflers and headers para medyo tahimik at di na tunog Beetle ride mo. The owners are also into VW's and a friend of mine way-back when i was still active with the Volkswagen Club of the Philipines during the 90's. You can ask them about mods for your Beetle.

You have a nice Beetle, deggi.  VW Type 1 was my first car.  I really did not want to sell it, but had to when I got my dad's Corolla.  I can only maintain 1 car.

I was not able to get those 8 spoke Empis, very expensive.  So I just stuck with the stock 15 inch rims and bought hub caps.

I placed 155s up front (135s are hard to come by), and 185s at the rear.  As for the 1600 engine, I onced placed an Engle 110 cam + 2 down draft solexes (I think the ones used for the Type 3 - I forgot na) on top of twin port heads.  During economy days, I removed the twin carbs and placed my stock Solex 34.

And my favorite, during weekends I would install my noisy Stinger (from SMT). :D

Since I'm a girl, I got myself that flower vase you put on the dash. ;)

Wow, you sure know the ins and out of VW's. Tsamba lang po sa Empi 8-spokes and Camac 135's front tires. Medyo pricey pero got a good deal from a VWCP friend. Yun ang silbi ng car club, may makukuha ka sa mga madaling magsawa sa accessories - tapos terms pa, hehehe . . .

Thanks for the complement. Wanna change color na nga eh, yung mga uso sa VW's ngayon - those pale colors na di metallic of the old days :)

Uy ngayon ko lang nakita ko.

Anyway, a classmate maintains a VW specialty shop somewhere in Araneta Ave. Godspell Auto Supply is the name.

Their family is a VW freak, from Super Beetle, Golf, etc.

The  Herbie replica is so cool!

I really dig those Type 1s fitted with Type 4 engines.

I used to go to the VW day (1st Sunday of December).   I sure miss those.
