i have a problem on my altis, there's always a  noise from my left front shocks i went to toyota pasong tamo, and they just replace my front left shocks. they did'nt mention any problem about my stabilizer link. but i can still hear  noise from it. so i decided to go on 2nd opinion, i went to JP wheels pque, they checked it out and told me that the problem is the stabilizer link.

is possible?

speedyfix

thanks! u have any idea how much yun? if the left stabilizer link is broken, do i need  to replace the right stabilizer link? what are the future probs that might occur from a broken link?

Brent

If the left is broken, the right is most likely to get broken soon. Best to replace both. Noise lang naman talaga, and you won't get optimum handling benefits of your stabilizer bar.

Regarding stabilizer link... How would you know na broken iyun Stabilizer link? nababaluktot or napuputol sya? and what case or situation would warrant a broken stabilizer link? And also mabilis ba matangal iyun stabilizer link? I own a rav4.2 i went to sagada using it. pag baba ko ng manila along tarlac may ibang squeak iyun right rear side of my rav. When i got to manila pina check ko iyun bushings, alignment etc etc kay motorcraft. Ayun found the culprit nawala iyun right rear stabilizer link.  Please enlighten me as to what are stabilizer links for?

ok lang ba to use replacements na stabilizer link?

Brent

The stabilizer link connects the stablizer bar to the lower suspension control arms. Usually lagatok yun symptom ng broken stabilizer link.

@vvti

Still best to use originals if you have the budget. Although Toyota might have OEM replacements through their Toyota Thunder service centers. If wala, then get a well known brand na OEM replacement.

speedyfix

if the budget permits go for origs. if not then 555 normally does the trick:)

Theres a small shop in quezon city that specializes in underchassis parts repairs.
They "repair" ball joints, rack end, tie rods, etc by injecting polymer compound in worn out parts.
They give a warranty for 15,000 kms. Service is ok. Rates are very competitive.
IMHO this is better than getting replacement parts. Many fakes proliferating everywhere.

vvti

san sa qc? have you tried it already?

Dr.FunK

Are you talking about ZEE?  I'm getting good reviews from my friends.  I don't know their address but I have the owners phone number.  PM me if you like to have it.

Normally, the stabilizer link is said to be "broken", the correct term maybe defective, when the links or the small ball joints becomes loose in its socket, that there is enough play which causes the "tok tok"  sound to be produced at the early stage of failure. If properly installed, the link should not come off by itself or by driving on rough terrain.

I had mine replaced recently (2 front stabilizer links) Toyota Rav4 2003. I had it replaced at Goodyear Servitek (Replacement brand 555 ata) ok naman sya so far pinakita muna sa akin na defective na sya like what tip_tipid said.

speedyfix

actually even if the joint of the link comes off it's no biggie. you can run with the disconnected stabilizer bar and it's be quieter pa than with the broken stablink installed. of course i don't suggest doing that since handling will suffer.
