haven't heard the alpine type s...pero used to have those gtos ok naman pero di ko nagustuhan yung tweets. pero kaya ma tune properly.

depends on how you like the tweeter. But, generally, just don't aim the GTO against the windshield.

and regarding many comments about the GTO's weak midbass, I found out last month while having my system rewired that the spavers used by the installers were plastic units that merely lifted the screws, in effect leaving a gap in between the spacers. Kewlryds installed proper wood spacers that go all around the mounting hole. result? I set the fronts to all-pass and switched off the sub, and my Sarah Brightman "Harem" CD never sounded better. It'll be too warm/dark for rock/metal or male vocals though.

yeah, try mo painstall ng maayos yung gto baka mag-iba ng tunog...my seps' pods were done by kewlryds and ang ganda ng tunog...

Go for GTO, my dad is using the Alpine Type S seps on his Altis and when I heard Protege's GTO setup on his 323 at kewlryd's place, It was fantastic. Basta properly setup and tuned. Siguro yung Alpine na Type S eh magiging maganda rin ang tunog, depende sa setup and tuning.  

Pero IMHO, kahit anong seps yan basta tama ang tuning at staging, maganda ang kalalabasan. Targa nga sa Auto ko ganda ng tunog eh, basta tama ang setup.

i also noticed the agressiveness of the tweeter of the gtos but it's nothing that tuning can't fix.

Thanks po sa mga feedback.kailangan ko ba ng spacer o hindi na?naka install na yung gto na seps sa front doors ko at na deaden na pinto.kailangan ko pa ba palagay spacer?will it improve the sound?

spacers are only meant to fill the gap between the mounting flange of the speaker and the mounting surface of the door in the event the speaker's mounting depth is too deep for the door cavity. or when there is a less than idea seal between the 2, a spacer can be used to solve this.

since the your gtos are already installed, your installer either fabricated a set of spacers already or your application didn't need one.

it can only improve sound if there are gaps between the mounting surfaces to begin with.

I used to have JBL GTO seps sa dati kong lancer bago me nag-upgrade. Malakas nga yung tweeter kaya wag mo nalang i-aim yung tweeter directly sa iyo. It was, I think, meant to be installed at the doors facing each other. Pero sound quality-wise that was one of the best Php 3T that I have invested my money with

I was budgeted with setting up my old car so i put it CS seps and a GTO 10 inch. They still sounded great.
