"In my book, 'The Fable of Christ,' I present proof Jesus did not exist as a historic figure. He must now refute this by showing proof of Christ's existence," Cascioli said.

In answer to this, I quote St. Augustine: "One must believe in order to Understand".

People who are preoccupied with factual proof of Christ or any other Divinity for that matter will sorely miss the point, like in proving that Christ EXISTED we might forget about showing that God LIVES.

For example, Indiana Jones can go look for the Ark, or the Cross, or Longinus' Spear, but in the end can only prove that Christ existed as a factual historical figure. The Church of Rizal can do that too, and look display his lamp, pen, the original copy of the Noli, etc. On the other hand, what Mother Theresa did in any single day showed to the people that she came in contact with on that day that her God is a Living God, living through believers who live as they believe.

That guy Cascioli is precisely why Nietzsche said that "God is Dead". He wasn't an atheist, but he saw all the false pieties of christians at the time, who persecuted homosexuals, oppressed women, colonized other peoples, etc. He's no different from the popes who declared war on Muslims. They say ifferent things but in the end it still boils down to false piety (or false basis for belief).
