It looks Korean coz its Korean made. The Chevy Captiva is the same as the Daewoo Winstrom which was designed in Incheon, South Korea. There's supposed to be a V6 3.2-liter version which puts out 225hp. Now that would be much more fun than the 2.4-liter four banger.

But if you consider the price, the 2WD diesel is a good contender. I wonder how it drives though.

it was quite good! though the engine isn't as quiet as the Santa Fe CRDI's. the interior also isn't as refined.

IMO, it slots between the Tucson CRDI 4WD and the Santa Fe CRDI.

Looks Korean because its made in Korea?
Yes it was designed at GM's Korean design center, but the designers, Michael Simcoe and Max Wolff are Australian. They previously worked at Holden. Michael Simcoe joined GM in 1983 so he pretty much knows about GM design, same can be said with the younger Max Wolff.

The Holden Monaro, one of the cars Michael Simcoe was involved in

The Captiva's Theta platform was developed by GM of North America.

went to Chevrolet, Q Ave to check out the Captiva. I noticed that its low-beam headlights have projectors!  :alien:

We'll be replacing our 2002 CR-V this year, and I'm thinking of including the Chevy Captiva as one of the candidates. What do you think guys?

do you need 5 seats or 7 seats in your replacement SUV? if I were you, I'd think long and hard between the Chevy Captiva 2.0 VCDI 4WD and the Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 CRDI.  ;) ;D

Thanks for the reply!

To answer your question, I just need 5 seats. I actually haven't used the back row of the CR-V, to be honest.

I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with the Hyundai. How is it price-wise and in terms of after-sales service? :)

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply, El!

How about aftersales service of the Captva, like preventive maintenance in the "casa"? Are they OK? Also, how's the gas consumption?

Sprry for being too makulit, guys. :)

Hey Captiva owners. Can you give a rundown on the ff:
a. Comfort (including quiteness in the cabin)
b. Reliability
c. Mileage (gas not diesel)
d. Aftersales support (parts availability, maintenance)
e. Freebies

Overall, what is your general and unbiased assessment? Is it "strong" buy? I'm considering upgrading from a sedan to an SUV and this vehicle seems bang for the buck and I've locked in to this vehicle. Very very close, if in case, is the CRV. Only the entry level pricing I am considering. Thanks and happy motoring.

To my surprise i've seen a new Captiva CRDi running around which emit brackish exhaust fumes.  :bs: so if it's baka kailangan lang ng change oil or that might be something with it. I got turned off seeing that.
