Toyota Fortuner or Nissan Xtrail

Im planning to buy a 2nd hand (great condition) Nissan Xtrail 2004(august) 250X 4x4 from a good friend for P900K. Nissan Xtrail has been Japans best SUV for 2004 and 2005 with good reviews but Im really in love with the Toyota Fortuner's look. Im not sure about the features ( suspension, and interior plus the fact that its only got front disc brakes and drum rears). If you were in my position, what would you choose? I need your suggestions guys. Considering the price of a 2nd hand great condition xtrail and a brand new fortuner is P1.3-1.6K. Thanks guys. I need you insights.

how about the new rav4?  

we had that same problem before, chosing between the fortuner and xtrail. ther fortuner at that time had a looooonng waiting list i dunno if there still is till now, my dad wsnt feeling it the fortuner coz of the interior and the specs of the 2.7. anyways, we ended up buying the xtrail and we are really satisfied with it.

Im not sure about the Rav4. I have a family already and somehow Ive never seen the Rav4 as a family car. Its like an SUV made for the bachelor type. The xtrail really looks interesting. Another problem I just saw is that my dad just told me that nissan vehicles might have low re-sale value. Thats probably something to worry about in a few years compared to a fortuner or Rav4. But I guess if you look at what the Xtrail offers you in terms of features, its really tempting. I just dont like the exterior styling especially the front. The Fortuner has a great exterior look. I just hate the interior design and features. But atleast the engine is pretty good. Well, hope Fortuner owners can say something here. Thanks a lot guys

fortuner, diesel 3.0, new engine and body at least sure ka for the next 3 or four years pa bago magpalit ng body design. and also mas spacious since you mentioned pang family car na din. downside lang medyo matalbog, but i solved this problem by changing to thicker tires. X-trail ok suspension and speedy engine , medyo malakas nga lang sa gas, overall ok sya for me compared to other compact suv, 2 yr. old na xtrail ko and it still feels new, walang squeaks or rattle. but if i were to choose only 1 of these cars, sa fortuner ako since mas bago ,mas spacious, and mas mura kasi diesel hehe

if you have a family then defintely go for the fortuner na ! it would serve you longer than the 5 seater xtrail kahit paano tsaka brand new is brand new cant beat that with the 3 yrs warranty ng toyota i have an xtrail pero as you said you already have a family na .. so fortuner kna talga cant go wrong

Thanks for the replies guys. I test drove the xtrail of my friend and I really enjoyed the acceleration and suspension. I think Im gearing more towards the xtrail now than the Fortuner because of the price difference, specs and features. Since my barkada owns the Xtrail, I know its in perfect condition. Considering also that the fortuner costs 1.3-1.6K without insurance as opposed to 850K for the Xtrail 250X 4WD, I think the Xtrail is somehow a better and more practical choice. Anyway, I do own a Mitsubishi Adventure also in case I need a 7 seater. Of course, in terms of size and exterior looks, I think I like the Fortuner more. Pero pag features, specs  and interiors ang pag uusapan parang sa Xtrail ako.

The XTrail is car-based, so its more comfortable and refined than the pickup-based Fortuner.

The XTrail is a good choice given the price you're getting.

The Fortuner is an excellent choice for family use.  And if you're looking at a more luxurious AUV.

In terms of features, I got the 250X and its got a smooth-running 2.5-litre, 180 ps/rpm, Electronic 4WD Selection, 4 ventilated disks, ABS, Electronic Brake force distribution, Dual SRS Airbag, 6 cupholders, 2 drinking coolers, Climate control aircon system, Removable and scratch proof washable luggage board, leather seats, Foldable rear passenger seats for more luggage space, around 2-3 storage compartments, Good suspension system(similar to the Sklyine suspension system from what i heard) etc...
