Kai buo ka na.

If I'm not mistaken, the plastic covers are Toyota TOSCO items.

I dont know if Jojo still has his dad's old Celica race car. Last time I saw it, It was in the Edge Corporation building in Pasong Tamo. That car was a TOSCO prepeared Celica complete with the Group N2 2TG, Girling brakes, TOSCO flares and airdam. If you can persuade Jojo to sell it to you. That would be a perfect project with history to boot.

shhh.. not so loud mic hehe the others might get ahead of me hahaha

but maybe not right now.. need to fix up a budget for it. am sure jojo wont sell the car cheap considering the "historical" value the car has..  :notworthy:

ganda nacho! btw, where you gonna get the plastic headlight covers? thats how i want my celica to be too hehe

The plastic headlight cover is the most difficult piece to get. The original one Ive seen on somebody elses car had TRD printed on it but Im not sure about the accuracy of it.  Im scouring through japanese auction sites and local clubs over here for it. The car is for my 14yo son. I plan to have it ready by the time he turns 16. The car that Im restoring is an ex-Toysport (So Cal Toyota tuner) car with TRD suspension and a close ratio 5 speed gearbox.

Because of this thread, I am seriously thinking of looking for and old school car. My short list includes a L type Lancer, Box Type Lancer, KP61 Starlet. TE27 Corolla and whatever comes to mind :)

Thing is, I'm really a purist at heart and I imagine that parts will be hard to come by nowadays. If I get a L type, I want it to be full JDM 1600 GSR spec. It has to have a C3 engine to be period. Since the L type was never offered as a GSR locally, finding the bits to make it a GSR will surely be a task. Box type, it has to be the 1800 GSR Intercooler Turbo. You may still find the exterior trim locally like the air dam, intercooler turbo rubber strips but the Turbo seats with the matching sidings may be hard to come by.

Same goes with both Toyotas, a lot of old school Toyotas locally are a mix of JDM parts that dont go together, A good example are cars with Levin front ends, Trueno tail lights combo.

I'm even tempted to just build a Nissan Sunny B120 pick up, slap an SR20DET in it and pray that I dont wrap it into a pole somewhere. Not so much trim items to worry about, cheap and will surely be fast. Or another alternative, against my principles, is to get the Sunny pick up and drop a 4AGE blacktop in it >:D

The 2 door fastback actually was sold by GM Phils with the G180 1800 gas engine which was pretty potent in its time. A harder task is to make it into a Gemini LSG with the DOHC version of the G180. Again, JDM spec!!!

The latter covers may have been TRD branded. In the mid 70's, TOSCO (Toyota Sport Company / Toyota Sport Corner) was renamed Toyota Technocraft with TRD as brand name for the parts.

mic buo ka na!!

my choices were actually ta22, ke25 and kp61.. the ae86 is almost impossible to find (at cheap price).. but some of the current celica owners are telling me not to go into celica.. parts are very hard to find and very expensive.

i've already seen a few for sale.. but none of them have at least a complete dashboard, which am particular about.
