I think this query would be of good timing, the next gen systems are are soon coming with the PS3 within months.

The Xbox 360 and PS3 will be HD compatible already and most games surely will have Hi-def options.

Btw, Nintendo Wii wont be supporting HD,  :P

What HD TV are you using? CRT, LCD, Plasma, dls?

I'm planning on purchasing one before I buy an Xbox360 para sulit sana yung visuals.

Since last year gusto na rin namin bumili ng plasma or LCD 40" and up atleast. We wanted to ship one from the states kasi sobrang mas mura and newer models. We are leaning on the plasma kasi it looks much nicer to our eyes... 500 dollars daw shipping. the best local plasma for me would be the Pioneer 436HDG for 200-240k depending on what store.

but if u buy in the states or online like Amazon.com, you can have the latest panasonic plasma which is the 42-THPX60U for 2k USD plus 500 usd for shipping door to door. 2500x52=130,000. thats a difference of more than 100k because the OLDER hdtv(not edtv) panasonic plasma is still around 250k+.

The only LCD that looks good to me is the Sammy and the Bravia V series. My friend has the 40" V series and it looks good even with local channels. although stretch lang nga.

hendrickson was shopping for a plasma/lcd a few months ago. i wonder what happened.

Yup, the Bravia is an option for me too. Cant wait to play Gears of War or Metal Gear Solid 4 on that.

I was thinking, buying the next gen systems would be nothing unless you'd hook it up to HD ready televisions.

BTW, Nintendo is talking about their Wii being the mainstream form of videogaming, wherein everyone can use it pero they didnt include HD compatability, sayang din. Everyone's upgrading already to 720 to 1080i.

Thanks for the heads up Kyle. :)

Yeah. Parang sayang for the Wii since I bet this kind of console is best playedd where you need a lot of room to move and a big screen to easily see your movement translated into action.

Yup, great console pag price ang pinaguspan, pero it still doesnt support HD, so baka hindi malinaw pag kinabit sa LCD or Plasma.

Btw, I HOPE Nintendo does not mess up on this one, they claim that thier design would attract developers to bite such innovativeness and a new approach to playing games and yet, Sony and Microsoft can manufacture separate controllers naman which also follows Wii's design. Thus ports.

The bad thing is, when you have a  multiplatform game which uses such controller design, Wii would end up having the worst graphics based on Wii graphical capabilities.

Nintendo promises gameplay, pero pwede naman agapan ng Micro and Sony yun with their own version of that controller. Pero ang graphics hindi pwede agapan ng Nintendo especially for port-overs since Nintendo gave their system lower graphical capabilities as compared to the Ps3 and 360.

Nintendo Fans would then have to rely on exclusive titles and first party development to get the most out of their Wii.

It just doesnt feel right when you're playing a multiplatform game on a weaker system knowing the Ps3 will always have a better looking version. ;D

When my 360 arrives I'll try it on our HD so I'm hoping its fixed by then.

Well Sony and Microsoft admitted the Wii would be a great second system to their own, which is a pretty big admission.
Go stable, just right... TO GO FASTER!

We have the same TV and yes, I agree that Panasonic is real value for money!

I just checked out new lines of LCD and Plasma TVs and a lot of models have great improvements now.

You can check out Samsung, Panasonic and Toshiba Plasma TVs, they are good brands with superb build quality.

As for Bravia, might as well go for a Samsung because a friend of mine, who owns a chain of appliance stores, says that its engine is also made by Samsung.

I respectfully disagree. If Nintendo went with HDTV it would cost way way much more. Speculation now is Wii will cost under $250. I agree with Nintendo's stand on not going all out with HDTV seeming sets arent as widespread as regular SDTVs.

Games cost $50 on the Wii vs $60 on other consoles.

The Wii wont be that sharp on a HD display but then again not all LCD or plasma can do 720p or 1080i HDTV resolution.

On a regular SDTV Wii can hold up quite well in the graphics dept with the 360 or PS3. On a HDTV not as well but tolerable. I really doubt Nintendo's choice of GPU will result in so poor picture quality as it is said to be twice better than the original Xbox.

The 360 & PS3 have better graphics hardware because they have to pump out 1280x720p, 1920x1080i & 1920x1080p video signal to a display. Seeming the Wii doesnt need to do that (at most 854x480p) it can do without such expensive GPUs.

Not a lot of people own or can afford a HDTV so the difference in hardware between the Wii & PS3/360 would not matter.

The PS3 will probably have the best looking version but at $599 for the premium package & $60/game it is quite expensive for your average/casual gamer.

Yeah Iget your point. Best for Nintendo to have kept the price very competitive. Although won't it be great to have both HDTV and the cheap price tag? ;D

A guy can dream ::) ;D

By the end of 2006 more than 25% of US households will have HD displays. In 2010 55 million to 69 million are expected to have made the transition.

With the above figures it's a no brainer Nintendo will issue a video console with HDTV capabilities 5-6 years from now.

To match my 360 I'm saving up right now for a 24" Dell LCD w/ 3 years warranty that comes out below P50T shipped from HK. It does 1920x1080p resolution very well. and the best bit is the fact you can hook it up to your computer.

It cant be used as a TV w/o a TV tuner but that's ok cause nothing's good on TV these days anyways. I'm sure your cable or satellite TV provider can provide a TV tuner box so you change channels.

Downside is no HDMI port so Blu Ray movies on the PS3 may not output at native resolution. :( Then again I could the Benq 24" LCD w/ HDMI port kaso na lang I dont know anyone who could source it in.

Below is the comparison between the different HD resolutions

I need help... i have an hdtv ready philipps projection tv 43' that says it can display 1080i, 720p, 420p, but when i try setting the xbox to 1080i, the image is hazy and small, and in 720p its just distorted colors and lines, i can't see anything, it only plays 420p, what is wrong? Is it my tv's limitations or i just don't get the settings right. The digital setting is set at auto, not progressive. Any help tv gurus?
