Hello everyone. Would you guys give out opinions on what engines can be transplanted on a Mitsubishi Celeste?

A Celeste looks like this:

If you want to stay old-school, 4G32 (Saturn) na.

If you want to stay old-school and load it up with torque, 4G54 (Astron), tapos turbo (yummy! Drag machine!).

If you want to Evo it, 4G63T (AFAIK, the Evo III engine will fit nicely).

Kung gusto mo ng new school, go for the 4G92 MIVEC (as seen here: http://www.autoindustriya.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=22462.0). Can do 11km/L mated to a 5-speed boxtype gearbox and a 4.625:1 rear differential (personal experience, hehe).

thank you cool people. how about the transmission? i was wondering what would fit it just in case engine lang ang makukuha. para makaresearch na din (to start off).

Hi Wendell,

In theory, all 4Gxx engines can share trannies from different 4Gxx engines.

For instance, for the 4G92, the engine mounts remained the same, and the boxtype 5-speed tranny fits without performing any conversions (as in pasok!).

For the 4G63, AFAIK, ganun rin.

HTH ;)

yes in theory any RWD mitsu tranny will fit. Iyong sa box type GSR (KM 119) will fit any EFI mitsu engine without any major mods.

wendell,

the pbase link you quoted is my collection of Celeste pictures as taken from the internet. :)

But if lata pa iyong kaha it's a good project car.

'76 beetle
- subaru ej25
- matching transaxle  :'(
- custom fabricated adapter plate

'79 celeste
- 4g63 / 4g63t  :o

AFAIK (as far as i know) same mounts din naman, babaguhin lang iyong daanan ng tubig kasi nga pang FWD iyong engine. Then the usual carb to efi procedures apply, like getting an EFI fuel pump and/or pamodify iyong fuel tank for EFI applications.

as for differential, ang stock ng Celeste is 3.9 open type diff. For normal driving conditions this would suffice, as this would give a longer gearing.

wala pa ata nakapag-try na magkabit ng supercharger sa 4g63t; better ask the Evo guys if there is indeed a supercharger option. Pero if ever, sigurado mahal yan.

If you'll take pics of the Celeste, mas maganda mapicturan mo iyong flooring, running board, quarter panel, hatch door (grabe mabulok ito). At most important, check papers (OR/CR).

HTH!

yes. kung meron man very very minimal lang.
