I have 3.0d4d fortuner for 4 mos now and my problem is  160kph lang talaga top speed nya when i tried to speed up at slex and my cousins fortuner with same engine can reach up to 185kph. Is there something wrong with my unit? it was already checked in toyota mla bay and accdg to their service manager wala raw deffect ung engine. Any comments on this? :(

I'm not an expert, but maybe you're on 4-wheel drive "4H"....   Make sure you're on "2H".

well, no doubt it seem you are not able to max out the brute force of your fortuner.

But i'm also trying to look into this area: your fortuner is bone stock. Ok. 4 mo in the running. Your tires are fresher and i would say a bit taller because of the newer rubbers.
According to tirerack.com a fresh Bridgestone Dueler H/T D840, 265/70/16 accomplishes 683 revolutions per mile, with an overall diameter of 30.5".

Considering that your friend's fortuner was on the streets earlier than your fortuner, she may be running ~29.5". So that makes the wheels rotate more in a mile.
And if i am not mistaken speed sensors are dependent on the rpm a wheel can make. So a smaller dia. tire can make more revs, but covers less miles.

My point is somewhere along the road there would be an error/off-set reading on the smaller dia. wheel.

What was the tire pressure when you did the stint? ::) And switch to 2H, ok? ;)

Can the fortuner reach 180kph easily? Or it's a labor to get to that speed?

The true top-speed of a D4D Fortuner should be in the 170kph range.  Anything higher must be due to speedo error or downward incline.

According to Parker's, the 157hp 3.0 diesel Trooper is only rated with a top speed of 99mph (158kph) while its 212hp 3.5 V6 gas version does 112mph (180kph) so it should be fair to conclude that 160 horse Fortuner runs somewhere in between.

Toyota UK rates the top speed of the 3.0 D4D Hilux at 108 mph (173 kph) and they get the 171hp version.

my top speed was 175 kph (bacolod-talisay hiway) 1 year old 3.0 D4d fort.  :)

I doubt that the fortuner could go past 180kph. I drove my friends 3 liter diesel all stock and ang tagal na nga umabot ng 150kph eh. When we reached 160, it feels like the car is gonna give in anytime :P

I agree...  Even Toyota itself doesn't rate their more powerful 171hp version to go that fast and no magazine has ever tested a stock Hilux or Fortuner that can reach a "true" 180kph.

Seeing 180 on the speedo is possible but such is likely due to speedo error.  The 190kph claimed by EudmAccord is possible after a few rounds of San Miguel. ;D
