Anyone experiencing this when you gas up at any Petron Station?

Ok.. I always gas up in Petron SLEX since I have my occassional trip to the province. On normal highway driving, it's ok. But last week, during stop and go traffic, and then I step on the gas, there is a lag in the power, and at worse times, the car stalls. So what I would do, is just restart the car and it's back to normal. This happens at least twice in one trip, most especially if the car is going uphill.

So I had it checked in the casa, and they confirmed what I was thinking all along: the fuel is contaminated with water and other sediments. So they drained the fuel, put in a new filter, and put in a complimentary amount, just enough for me to get to comfortably the gas station half a kilometer away. The gas station half a kilometer away is Petron Pasong Tamo. Had it filled up, and headed back to my daily routine.

Now here it is again, this time it stalled twice this morning. Same conditions: stop and go traffic, on an incline. Same kind of experience.

I will try a different gas station tomorrow (maybe Shell), have the fuel drained again and see if it still happens. Bu for the interest of discussion, just want to check if anyone has had the same experience lately with the Petron fuels? (I was using their diesel in particular).

for diesel, i only trust shell. But for gasoline, I've heard na OK daw yung petron. A friend of mine works ar shell and they admit that Petron has better gasoline than them. Nevertheless, I only use shell for our cars.

I had this twice this week. I usually gas in Petron Macapagal (i use extra unleaded) in Pasay. I was driving on a saturday traffic in sucat road when the engine suddenly stalled while i was stepping on the gas... I tried starting again but it choked, so i waited for about 3 mins then i switched the keys and gladly the engine started...

The next time it happened, the fuel i had was from petron in sucat. I used sucat as my route home and encountered a mix of light and heavy traffic. While i was near SM sucat the engine stalled again while i was in stop and go traffic and had a hard time starting it again but it was ok after a while...

Ill be having the car checked to be sure, but hopefully the fuel is the culprit instead of any engine problem... Cause the car just came from a maintenance check 2 weeks ago... So hopefully its just the petron fuel...

Try going to Petron Pasay road dude. I always gas up there and have had no problems. Used to go to Petron Pasong Tamo but I'd go at night when it was dark.

Flylo always gasses up at Petron Pasong Tamo. Doesn't seem to have anything wrong with his cars.

Or try Petron greenhills if you're not too far from that area. Is this on the Fortuner?
In a world of compromise, some don't.

i've been gassing up in petron sucat for a couple of years already. xtra unleaded. no problems even though my car needs a higher octane rating.

same symtoms on my pajero a year ago. used Petron diesel. i had to start and warm the car ( stationary for 5 minutes ) before driving it or else it would stall in the first 3 kilometers. Then would also stall when driving uphill especially when fuel is on the 1/4 level. Had my tank drained, injection pump cleaned / replaced injector oil seal , fuel filter changed. and switched gas stations. okay na...

we've been gassing up on the petron along p. guevarra (not the one beside everything at steak, the other one) and we've never encountered any problems. we only use petron blaze btw.

On our Jazz, we experienced engine knock when we filled up at Petron. Upon checking with the casa, we were told that the gasoline was contaminated. Basic sign of this is the spark plug - the tip too black, parang sunog na sunog.

We switched to Caltex and we never experienced the same problem again.

Which Petron branch? I experienced this once when I loaded at Petron Shaw Blvd. (near the back of Wack-Wack). I load Petron Blaze at the following, Ortigas corner Santolan, Aurora Blvd. corner Balete Drive and Makati Ave. corner Buendia with no problems.

Actually a black tipped plug doesn't mean "sunog na sunog". That would mean an overly rich fuel mixture (not sure if contamination could cause this).

Yeah. On the Fortuner.

What I did a while ago was drain the tank (again) and loaded it Diesel from the Shell in C5 cor Julia Vargas. Everything is ok so far, even during traffic.

Now I just need to know what to do with over 30 liters of contaminated Diesel....

rule of thumb is to never gas up at a station that gets flooded...

also if it's a busy station it's better since you are assured they always have a fresh load of gas... not something that has been sitting in their tanks for a while.

then nandun padin yung prob, sabi nung casa comp box daw.. and so they replaced it..

and nandun padin yung prob, pinalitan pa nila ng sparkplug bago nalaman na yung gas lang pala may halong tubig..

Yeah. Petron SLEX is quite a busy station actually. But I guess there was just something about their fuel that time. Probably during the storm that came by.
