well that is good. I haven't been a fan of this so called performance motor oil used by rally team and so forth. I still stick to my ever tested Super Shell sold in the Philippines. By the way, not all Shell Oil Products types are available worldwide, or they may have different names?

NO. not every one available in the Euro market is available in the US market... what more here in the PI? This also goes well with the other brands like the controvesial, sludge-building CAstrol. I just find it really silly why not let in the German Castrol which is highly regarded for its performance. The green German Castrol. hahaha. But ooops... take note.. not all euro cars accept this superior oil, not even the other better oils. The reason why, also, there are specific ratings ( for MB, Volvo and the others) is that oils in these manufacturers motors produce sludge, and that is something they did researched on to keep the goo stuff to the minimum level.  :P

A few years back i was using castrol GTX 20W- 50 on my Corrola and found out like the oil easily turn black and open my engine oil cap .You can see the there a build up sludge . Now i never use castrol anymore during the 80' Castrol is a very well known. I dont know what happen to Castrol heard a lot of not satisfy with the oil.   Just my experience.

i used gtx 20w-50 on my galant gti...and after 2400kms it has already turned black. I also opened the oil cap but i have not found sludge buildup as of this time...i had better experience with shell helix 20w-50 back then...

OT: different product names for different markets. Example: Shell Helix Ultra here and in Europe is known as Shell Rotella in the US. on the other hand, Rotella is the cheapest Shell oil in our market!  ;)

Thanks for the infos guys! Learning from your experience can help others :) I really thought before Castrol is a good brand but never tried it buti nalang Mobil 1 oils ang na try ko nun aside from using Shell Helix oils ;D

now i know... :crybaby2: thats why  our 2 cars broke down because of it, we used to have a change oil in castrol center somewhere in quezoncity

my ek lxi, first time i used to try their services and oil, after a month my check "oil" gauge suddenly appear since then i didnt go there anymore. my conclusion is that maybe sludge covers up the oil sensor sending unit (and what ever they called it)

then another is our vios08, and thats the worst thing happens, chocolaty thick sludge where found when we opened the valve cover. and also check oil sensor also occur

for now we learned our lesson :(

Right now Im using Motul HTECH 100 for almost 3years and no problem with sludge on my motor when i open the valve cover no sludge build up at all.

speedyfix

on the vios it's really known for sludging. remove the sludge and do quicker oil change intervals to be sure.

just curious: does this sludge build-up happen mostly in turbo engines or even in normally driven NA engines? thanks

Depends greatly on the engine and the oil. Like speedyfix says, this is common with Vioses (and Altises, by the way) driven on the long-change interval.
