For those of yu who want something more than just the short track at Subic International Raceway, SVI will start on April 20 the first round of the 2008 SOLO Championship. It will be exactly like Run What You Brung except for 4 basic differences.

1) Use the long track
2) MUST have a roll bar with support
3) Must Have 4 point seat belt.
4) Open to all drivers not currently holding a circuit racing license

Any car will do as long as it has all the safety requirements

NO single seat, open wheel race cars allowed.

There will be 3 or 4 brackets to start

It will be held on the same weekend as the SVI races and some PTCC races.

There will be be 4 events in 2008.

Highly recommended you at least run some RWYB events before you try SOLO

High recommended that you put in a racing seat as well, it will keep you in place for the highspeed corners

Dont take the SVI long track for granted the top speeds are faster than BRC, and technical sections precede the long straights.

Practice Orientation will be at 8 am stay tuned for more detailed schedule.

More INFO:

There will be a practice session on Saturday afternoon after qualifying of the PTCC.

There will be at least 3 Runs of 2 flying laps, just like qualifying for the PTCC.

1 Orientation Practice Run

2 Official Timed Laps.

For those of you with Rally Sprint cars or Hill climb cars that have cages or roll bars, you are eligible to run.

Ok where are the results for the first ever SOLO and while the entry was quite low,
it showed some real serious competitors. Hope fully some others will come and show off their skills
espiecially from the hillclimb and rally groups. Though they may get their ego's hurt as some of the
competitors were running times whihc would allow them to run in Super Saloon.

Bracket A

Jan de la Merced     Subaru WRX STI          1.32.45     1.32.01
Niko Montinola        Honda Civic Group 1    1.32.76     1.34.11

Bracket B     (1.34.00 and lower)

Monty Buhay            Mitsubishi GSR Mivec   1.35.45    1.34.35

Bracket C     ( 1.39.00)

Jonathan Nazareth  Nissan Sentra              1.40.11    1.44.32
Quicy Buenaflor        Nissan Silvia                1.41.86     1.40.61
Ramil Madriaga         Honda Civic B16          1.42.60
Ricard Santos           Honda Civic Group 3    1.51.44     1.49.01
Norman Castillo        Toyota MR2                  1.50.66    1.49.75

Some of these were first time on the long track so expect the times to get fqster

As for the accident of Mr. Bon, I was in the pits with electrical problems, but from the drivers mouths.
Dominc Bon missed a shift on the exit of turn 7, Louis Ramirez who was following close behind, tries to
miss him by swerving right. Unfortunately he caught the right corner of the car and spun it into the center
wall. Dominic was unhurt, but the car may be a write off. Stay tune fro the Round 2 date sometime in July.

Believe me, you would want a roll cage, and harness, even if you're doing RWYB, much less the SOLO.   Those walls can give you a world of hurt, if you make a mistake and get in a bad incident.    ;)
