LAncer GTI 91car ko. Pansin ko tuwing dadaan sa hindi smooth na daan, ramdam mo lahat imperfections ng road, like cracks, even small bumps. It seems to originate sa front end and translates sa body, sometimes even sa manibela. It is very annoying lalo na kung concrete at hindi asphalt pavement ang daan. Shocks seem ok nama kase wala naman bounce. What could be the problem?

Paul

bushings. ganyan din car ko dati. makalampag din talaga yan.

thanks Paul.Has it something to do rin kaya sa tunog na parang nagsasalansan ng pinggan sa ilalim? Bushing din ba yon?

In a car that old usually if it hasn't been doen yet, you wanna replace all the bushings including steering rod ends, ball joints, and suspension arm bushngs.   Even engine mounts will need replacing.  Rubber will only last around 5 years or so before breaking.

if the shocks are okay naman, maybe u can go for wheel alignment. My car was also bumpy and at first, pinacheck ko sa mechanic shop sabi i have to change my shocks daw. then i asked how much, ang mahal so tiniis ko muna. then i decided to have my wheels aligned tapos ayun, nawala ung tagtag. hehe :)

huh?! what does alignment got to do with it? this left me scratching my head.

bushings are the likely culprit, more than alignment.

If you have not changed anything yet since you have acquired the car in 91, then I will recommend that you bring it to a trusted
shop or mechanic to check the following regarding the front suspension and steering:
1. Shock mount or rubber insulator assembly
2. tie rod/rack ends for play
3. ball joints
4. lower arm bushings
5. stabilizer links
6. stabilizer bushings
7. brake caliper bushings
8. shock absorber for side play
9. transmission mount

Thanks for the replies... How much would it typically cost to replace the bushings?

incoming!!

expensive sir yun lang masabi ko. (replacements = expensive) (OEM = much more expensive) range ng rubber bushings can go from 300 to 1k++ peso pesoses. di lang isa papalitan kaya magastos talaga.

speedyfix

have the car checked so you can pinpoint the problems and get an estimate as to how much the repair will cost.

it's like you're calling up the doctor and saying you're not feeling well and asking him how much it will cost to fix you up without him even checking you out.

you've either got to pinpoint the problem then ask for a specific estimate or just go to someone who can do it for you.
