Hi guys,
we have a nissan exalta sta 1.6. When it was still newer, i ran over a hump that was quite high and the hump hit something under the car. After that, it was like I was driving a race car...the engine sound was really really loud. I assumed i hit something near the muffler? ANyways...it was sent to a gas station to be fixed...it seemed to be fixed....sort of. Even until years later (now)...I still think it was softer before I hit that hump. I even sent it to Nissan but they said it sounds normal. The gas station said they hammered something to return it to its original shape.

My question is...maybe hammering it didn't get it back to its orig shape? What could I have hit to make the engine sound louder? Maybe if I specify to the mechanic what to check they can find out what's wrong?

only culprit i see is the entire exhaust system (from headers down to the muffler). Better bring it to a muffler shop like Fremuff or Nodalo's.

most probably the one that was fixed before involved welding a metal patch into a hole somewhere in your exhaust pipes, and of course bec. of time and age it probably rusted.

It's most likely your exhaust. I scraped off the exhaust of the Exalta before, too.

If there are no holes, it's not a problem, but if the noise is bothering you, your muffler might just be on its way out and it isn't silencing the exhaust note like it should.

ahh ok. thanks for the replies. I think I'll send it to a muffler shop then....one thing i noticed is...even when its idling...it's like a small subwoofer going...boom boom boom boom....hehe...it's actually quite annoying for me :D

Thanks for the advise! I had someone bring it over to CPM first...since we know the owner...hopefully they can fix it :)

Hey guys, just to update you...
I had the driver bring the car to CPM....I have no idea what they did....I'll have to ask the driver hehe...but there is a very noticeable difference! The huge vibrations i seemed to be filling seemed to be lessened too...hmm. So...good job to CPM (the one on Araneta Ave. :))

I can't believe I never thought of sending it to them the past few years....all those "repairs" at gas stations and at Nissan...ugh.
