saw the poster for that, I'm not sure about the legalities of it but they did use my picture without consent.  I know its not like I'm a pro pero it does still feel bad.

This is serious actually. You can have a lawyer write a letter to Castrol and demand payment for the use of your photo since it was commercially used for promotion. Print all the screenshots where you saw the poster and file them so you have stronger material evidence.

my name actually is seen in the properties of the original picture.  kahit acknowledgement lang sana ok na eh, I just feel like someone stole something from me.  Pero I talked a friend sabi niya usually bayad lang naman sa ganyan is about 6K so it really isn't much especially to get a lawyer and demand payment.  My friend works at Castrol and he's trying to get the agency who did it for them.  Hassle bro

6k pag with permission. Since it was stolen. They have to pay what you ask them to pay. Copyright infringement na kasi yan which is a criminal case already.

thanks Brent, may not hurt to discuss with a lawyer I guess.  Appreciate the advice

@qnz_78
Sorry to hear that. Where did they found/stole your picture?

Yes.  they should have at the very least spoken with you about it before doing it.  I remember my car was used on Top Gear and another in a poster of the Autocross series and both times, they talked to me about it.  It's such a simple matter to ask permission and I'm sure you would have given them your permission, kahit walang bayad but it's just not ethical and/or legal to use someone else's picture taken without permission for a commercial purpose.

I think they can be liable for more than just the 6k amount.  I'm surprised that Castrol would allow this thing to happen, or even the organizers of the event.  The IP Law has been in the Phils. for a long time already so they should have known.  There's no excuse for this.

yup just sent them a letter through my friend who works there.  no lawyers yet, I'll keep it simple muna.  I honestly dont want to make too much out of it especially since I'm not a pro, but I am seriously bothered about it since photography is something that I take very seriously (or atleast try to hahaha).
