don't think he's interested in his safety.   ;D

I dunno why you'll ask pa, of course, nothing beats orig Recaro.  Pati presyo!   :D

There is no dishonor in losing the race. There is

I totally agree! I don't mind owning a 2nd hand recaro as long as it is original and not those knock-offs that is selling everywhere. ;)

surplus SR3 orig costs around 30-35k per pair.
taiwan or thailand copy costs 15k per pair.

I got my fake SR3 for only 8k bnew :D

pero like they all say, you get what you paid for. Fake recaro madali kumupas ang fabric. My seats are 8 months old but it looks older than surplus ones.

Functionality, same lang. mas comforable pa nga yung fake recaro and madali mag adjust ng angle ng sandalan kasi may lever siya parang stock seats. sa orig recaro may knob so it will take a couple of minutes para maihiga ang sandalan.

Sa malayo halos pareho lang, pero pag nilapitan mo obvious na fake dahil sa fabric. tapos yung recaro na burda obvious din sa fake dahil malaki :D orig recaro maliit lang ang burda.

here's my fake recaro SR3... thailand made.

Sir Emong3,

Thank You Very Much for the response.  This was the kind of answer I was looking for.

For a person with not enough money to buy a Brand New or Surplus Recaro, being prudent is very important :)

Sirs - Of course safety is a concern, but since my car is only used as a grocery getter, I just want to have something new in it without spending a lot of money :-)

Thank You for all your responses.

id rather get an orig one though...when it comes to safety, that could save your life then the original would be better. even if its just a grocery getter, you never know, accidents are accidents. if its just exhaust or intake or anything like that, then yeah i would prolly skimp on those but something like this i dont think i would. just my opinion... :)

Thanks aid03 for the advice.  I will look into this and see if I can just find a good deal on a 2nd hand original sr3.

Here's my take on this, if your car is just a grocery getter, then there is no need to get a recardo. Firstly stock seats are more comfortable and userfriendly than those surplus recaros from type r's or somewhere else.

If you're going for the look of racing, then i will not sacrifice safety over aesthetic looks.

I guess my point is, if you're not racing it and have no immediate need for it. Wait for you to find a good deal or have enough money to buy the original. Besides your money has greater value, if you know in your heart you bought something that is worth it.

well yeah if its a recardo then i wouldnt get it... ;D jkjk

kahit grocery getter lang, accidents could happen to anyone. the seats are important, you never know when some resing kid rear ends you and you got your gf or kid at the back seat and the seat collapse at them. you're better off with the seats that's been tested by the mfr than the ones that you dont know where they got it from... those seats are prolly from the junkyard and they just reupholstered it, you just dont know if the seat's integrity is still there or if it will hold up when you get into an accident... just my .02

any feedback on the "engineered" sports seats by some upholstery shops?

yeah thats right! as long as we dont race our cars, we dont really need an original recaro/bride seats.

we buy em copies for its looks right...

but when it comes to performance ie suspensions etc, go with the origs. :)

You can buy originals naman if budget is a problem isa na lang muna, then pag nakaipon yung passenger na din. For me decided to go bucket/racing seats lang after a trackday at brc, napa-isip ako dapat pala yun una ko upgrade sa car :)
