When selling a car, is it safe to give out the license plate?

A potential buyer off the internet is requesting for it.  Is it generally safe to give this information?

They are probably going to text LTO to check vehicle registration or they want to know the "coding" day. Either way I don't see any harm they could do by asking for it.

why would there be any harm with giving out the plate number, when at all times it is hanging for everyone to see on your cars' license plate holder?

That's mostly so people dont look you up since obviously the car's plate number can be used to track down its owner.
As a buyer making a serious inquiry though, i'd be suspicious if a seller wouldn't give me his full plate number. You need to have that to make sure it's not some drug dealer's smuggled runabout, obviously.

Or maybe if you still want to be semi-anonymous, just blurr-out the plate numbers to leave the last digit visible on the photo.. That way, they know the "coding" day.

Another perspective on blurring out the plate number is that maybe the seller does not want friends/colleagues to spot that he/she is selling his/her car (common among the general Filipino - paranoia of being thought of as 'naghihirap').

My two cents. :)
