If I had to pay for it, I'd go for the Hyundai Coupe V6. Because its a brand new car, there's no extra running costs to worry for a while.

Public opinion for Hyundai may not be very high yet. But I'm pretty sure it will change significantly within the next 3-5 years at the current rate they are growing. It will just depend if the local Hyundai distributor can handle the brand well.

But don't get me wrong as the 350Z is also a nice car and there are many more that's much better than the Coupe.  But at 1.8M with 5 years warranty, I don't see another local performance car deal that offers similar value for money.

the Subaru Impreza WRX comes close.  ::)

a tough decision indeed.

i've seen both cars and the hyundai did make an impression. it makes me wanting to try it out right then and there.

from my standpoint, the gamble here is if you're willing to go with the underdog as opposed to the known street king that is the 350zed.

if the options are limited to just the 2 and it will be plain decision, i'd like to give the newcomer an opportunity.

I think either one you choose, you'd be a winner!

+1.  But if you mod the Hyundai, ma-vovoid ba yung 5-year warranty?

Everything about it comes close...except for its looks.  Still not a big fan of it sorry.

Only mods you need on the 1.8m Coupe would be an exhaust upgrade to uncork the sound of that V6... it's the 2.0T that needs work to get decent power out of it.

the 2.0T in stock form is in a mild state of tune. a few mods + a visit to AutoPlus or Speedlab's dyno should crank its hp up!  ;)

Sure, but only in price. In terms of value, its not even close.

350Z!

cuz the Z has its heritage/soul and long history of sporty bloodlines ( starting w/ the 240Z of the 70's )

the Genesis is just another coupe that will be forgoten in time  just like the Tiburon.

this could have been said about the z back in the 70's when jap cars weren't so respected like korean cars are now.

Yup.

Heritage is worth as much or as little as the manufacturer wants to make of it.

The Porsche Cayenne has the "heritage" of Porsche. Does that make it a great sportscar? No. (doesn't matter if it's a great SUV, it's still not a Porsche sportscar)

I'd rather judge both products on their own merits... and while the 370Z has a lot of merits, you can't discount the Genesis Coupe completely.
