How does the MR-S compare with other cars in the local track.
Fun to drive? Orig lhd units? Price? Thanks!
Interested in its weight I found through google/wiki.
Does a celica engine swap do justice to the 130hp stock engine?

i havent driven the mr-s in the local track but i can give u some insights on it since i used to drive it daily. Fun to drive? yes, its fun to drive cuz its light. parang go-kart. hehe im not sure regarding orig lhd units here, most of the mr-s's are converted. Price? i'm not sure with the price now. 2-3 years ago, it was going from 1.1M to 800K. now ata, nasa 550-700K na lang. good luck!

hassle lang yung parts pag nabangga ka. pahirapan mag hanap, usually import pa.

about the celica engine swap, im not sure but isnt the celica and the mr-s have the same engines? older models have 1zz? i think yung latest ones yung 2zz engine na. 6-speed transmission na yun. 180 hp ata yun. i thnk, it will do justice naman since the car is light. on a side note, someone already swapped his mr-s with a k20 turbo, so far okay pa naman til now. some of my friends say na okay din daw ipalit yung b18 sa mr-s but i havent met someone who really has one.

i'd suggest a Honda DC5 too... hehehe pero na observe ko sa MR-S, it also has its non-car related advantage. pwede siya pang chix, kaya topdown eh. parang s2000. :partyon:

this is why the mrs is one of my dream cars

nice video. wanna share this one too, got me really inspired with the mr-s

that's the friendly drag race between an mr-s and gt-r. although the mr-s has a honda engine. :)

i dunno if the YT links posted are about this one..(i cant open YT now hehe)
techno pro spirit has a video on the togue with orido driving it.. :D

it has the 2zz swap from the celica GTS.. they also had the gas tank relocated up front for balance daw..

all in all.. that MRS kicked arse even in the N/A vs. Turbo battle ng best motoring!

kalaban ng 190hp MRS with 2zz are 2 silvias with over 300hp!

its flying in the track and in to the turns.. but syempre, kain lang siya sa straight vs. the turbos...

so yeah, MRS is good..
Oh shiiett na malagkit na nagkadikit-dikit na kulay violet!

also appealing to the MR-S aside from it's low curb weight is it's mid-engine layout. advantage of this is excellent traction off the line and center of gravity is at the middle thus the car pivots at the middle.

yeah, but in order to achieve that balance the mr2 was somehow turned into full-on race car so racing a 300hp street able silvia is somehow unfair. somehow making 300hp on a sr20det engine on a silvia is easier than making a perfect balance toyota mrs

modified or stock, the engine is still in the middle. those characteristic is still inherent whatever state the car is in. it's not just about power you know.

Was looking for an MR layout car and this was the most affordable solution without a turbo option.
Planning to get the celica engine too but not until I find the limit of the stock engine on the track.
Thanks for the much needed infos!

Conan: the silvia is too strong for my skills  ;D ;D ;D

tried the DC5 na before, it was nice din naman kaso parang mas happy ako i drive k20 hatch haha  ;)
btw not too keen sa porma, family man na hahaha ang ganda lang talaga ng layout and price ng MR-S.
plan to strip din the interior if may interior pa talaga siya in the first place.
