been using 20w 50 whiz motor oil in my car for 2 weeks now, i noticed medyo lumakas sa gas. sabi ng shops wala daw sa weight yun?di ko rin nagamit car ko for 5months kaya baka di na ako sanay.  should i change oil ? whats a recommended weight for a 15 year old sr20 engine?  thank you

kiss my lip.

What was your previous oil? Thicker oil will usually cause slightly higher consumption. AFAIR, 20w50 is okay for an old SR20, but if your engine doesn't have too many kilometers on the clock and still has good compression, you might want to go for something lighter, like a 10w40.

20W50 is not a good viscosity for SR20DET, it's too thick. Next time use 5W40.

DET ba sa kanya, hindi DE? Kung ganyan... yeah... 20w50 is too much.

I think you may be right, baka DE nga.

20W50 is too thick!

I suggest using 10W40, or better yet, 5W40 synthetic!

sr20de  lang sir.kung 5w siguro too thin? 10w40 pinaka safe? :)

The difference between 5W and 10W is only during cold start. The 5W will flow better. When the engine's warm, they're both 40 weights so no difference.

niky

5w40 is better... but it's hard to find cheap 5w40... easier to find semi-synth or cheaper 10w40 synths.

How many kilometers are on the odometer?

D'oh!  :partyon: my bad. 10w40 is good for an engine with that mileage.

would this viscosity also do for a 4G63T with 106T kms?

speedyfix

go for the 40 weight siguro lalo na if it doesn't see any track use.

If I can recall correctly they recommended using 15w50 for 4g63t for the Evos before, I think something to do with the lifters.
