Do we really get bad gas?

How true is it that Gasoline supplied in our market it dirty? If you have a US spec car and run it on Blaze or V power, is it true that the car cannot handle it and go into limp mode? A local dealership is suspecting that unlike their cars, mine does not have the "low quality fuel package" thus causing my car and several other US units to go into limp mode and Check engine light lit up.

Our fuel isn't the worst in the region. But its not the best either. But yes it is worth considering when buying a car especially if it's a grey market unit from the US. What car is this by the way?

Sent you a PM :)

I get bad gas when I chow down a giant beef and bean burrito ;D

But kidding aside, there really is something with our gasoline that can compromise the engine performance (especially the diesel ones from my experience).

I am not sure if it is already what they refine and send to us, or what is transported as they head out from the depot to the gas stations. It is no secret that syndicates sometimes hijack trucks and replace portions of the contents with water or something of lower quality fuel

oh, i guess we really have inferior quality fuel. I think the next step ill ask the dealership is what additional components are needed to be retrofitted to my unit that enables their local units to adapt to our local quality fuel. :) I hope they give me a straight answer hehe

dirty is not the correct term, maybe we should say it can still be further refined.

dirty fuel = fuel with contamination. this should be common to old gas stations since the tank is underground it could be leaking, corroded and contaminated with bacteria and water.

I think its due to poor quality control, how the product is stored and transported.  Also its our climate that's very high humidity and near the sea.

What you have to be concerned about is 1: the actual octane rating. and 2) contaminants and moisture, which can also affect #1.

If you have a high performance car, you need to service your fuel system from your gas tank, pump, fuel filter, lines, and injectors.  If any of these systems are blocked or not working properly, your engine leans out and that's what causes engine damage.

Many new cars nowadays will have sensors that will give you an engine check light if there are leaning problems.  But still, with modified cars like turbo's, things can go wrong really fast if one of the fuel system components are not working properly.

There is no dishonor in losing the race. There is

V-Power is okay for most cars that require high octane. At least, in my experience and that of some others, it was before people started making everything E10.

The variance amongst "95 RON" gasolines by different gas suppliers here is huge... and now that they're E10, there's a bigger chance you can get a bad batch that's been water contaminated.

Got it. Will ask them to check on those as per your suggestion :)

brother macbookpro: try Caltex Gold with techron, i had a recurring CEL problem before on a US version car was filling up with Blaze or Vpower/Velocity then, i wouldn't listen to my mechanic because i wanted 96 octane instead of the 95, but after finally listening to him viola CEL hasn't come back since, he says the sensors of US version cars don't like the additives found in Blaze or VPOWER. its not really about being dirty but i guess its just the additives! oh and stick to oem sparkplugs lang for euro or US version cars, some don't like the fancy Iriduim / NGK plugs even if their the same specs!  :)

Thanks for the tip. Will load up with caltex as soon as I empty my tank. :) Hopefully, it solved my problem...

I agree. Too much deposits when using blaze on the sparkplug (maroon color)

sounds like you have a high-performance engine. it should be equipped with a knock sensor that adjusts the engine's performance or compression something like that based on the fuel. That's how I recall it from the user's manual. You'll end up with poor performance and poor fuel economy.
