Hi guys.

Just want to ask if painting polyurethane gold paint (air brushed) on car rims will look okay? How will you compare a brand new (originally) gold rims to that which is just painted gold? Will there be a big difference?

Thanks!  ;)

The car painter did on my wheels, and they looked great! The first thing he did was to totally strip of the old paint by using a paint remover. After thoroughly cleaning and drying it, he spray painted on the same set of primer and polyurethane paint usually used on car finishes. What was used on my wheels was a GUNMETAL color. The effect is is it has a shiny finish with fine metal grain. Once you have observed how it is done, you can probably do it yourself, it is that simple.

The only downside of car paint on wheels is thy are not that durable and chemical resistant. Wouldn't you want to have them powder coated instead? You could go to rota plant to have them do a powdercoat for you. I remember a friend dropped his jdm lug nut to a painted wheel (urethane paint) when he's removing he's tire, it chipped the paint right of..  :P
