sirs, I need your advise as to how to improve the FC of my LXi!

acquired it just a few weeks ago thinking it is a more fuel-efficient replacement for my 16-V corolla. After 2 weeks of purely city driving, mileage came up to less than 6km/L  :crybaby2: :crybaby2:

ano-ano mga dapat kong ipa-check to improve its mileage? any advise will be appreciated.

Change the oil to the correct viscosity, change air filter and spark plugs.

Forgot to mention sir Conan that I acquired the car from a company bidding. It was casa-maintained (HONDA Shaw) and I have the preventive maintenance history with me. It shows there na alaga naman sya sa tamang Honda oil as well as plugs, etc.

Kaya nga am at a loss as to why ganito kasama ang fuel consumption nito eh. Any more inputs, mga sirs?  ???

incoming!!

just like in my galant now. we have the same problem, less than 5km to a liter.

i have to check pa the right oil viscosity.

check your brakes din. medyo stuck up yung rear ko baka isa rin yun sa prob.

For me, "casa-maintained" doesn't necessarily mean that it's well taken care of. I don't know about Honda, but with Mitsubishi and Ford, they use the wrong viscosity oil depending on which company they have a tie-up with. When was the air filter and spark plugs last changed? Retarded timing setting can also result in poor power/economy.

OK...will see/check on the following:
- oil viscosity (ano po ba ang para sa '96 civic LXi?)
- timing
- filters and plugs
- possible brakes stuck-up (thanks sir incoming!!)

any recommended shop na mahusay sa A/T Honda within Pasig area po?

hungryalien

check your sparkplugs and fuel filters as well..

Bring it to Speedyfix, they have their own thread in the Well Maintained part of the forum. Have you also checked your tire's pressure?

john5

how about considering the way you drive?tapak mo sa gas?added weight like subs, etra cargo etc ???

torbiks

sir john...hindi naman po ako heavy-footed...hindi rin ako gigil sa silinyador kahit noong M/T pa minamaneho ko...

wala din po akong mga subs and usually wala namang karga sa trunk other than the usual carjack and tools...

one week has passed and ganun pa rin FC nya based on my last gas-up...kakafrustrate!!  :crybaby2: :crybaby2:

What about your AC compressor? Check if it has any whining noise when it's engaged. A quick check is by turning off the AC button. If there is a very noticeable power loss have it checked asap . A faulty compressor can cause additional load to the engine resulting to bad FC.

bro, opinion ko lang, after checking the plugs, filters, timing, etc..also make sure you measure the FC the appropriate way...try filling it up until the first click of the gas  pump..then drive it around for maybe 30-40 km...then bring it back to the same station, the same pump, then fill it again till the first click..then see how many liters was consumed for the particular km reading...

tip_tipid

1. what is the idle RPM?
2. do you leave the car in Drive mode when stucked in traffic or shifted to Neutral?
3. Clean the MAF or MAP.
